I see that on the “Authors Board” next door, considerable interest is shown in discussions of THE FIRST TIME. Of course, poets are above such tawdry wallowing in the flesh, but perhaps there is a first time for everything.
Darkmaas, drowning in nostalgia, recalls the first time he and a young lady read poetry together. We were oh-so-very young. It was my girlfriend’s idea - a poetic picnic.
We had packed a lunch and found a secluded corner of a local parkland. The sun was hot and, metaphorically, so were we. I know now about subtle differences in perception between the genders but alas, I was younger then. I saw the reading of romantic poetry as a prelude to romance of a less cerebral nature. My cohort in poetic crime, on the other hand, saw Byron ’neath the warm sun as a romantic end in itself. Needless to say the experiment was not repeated. This tragic story cries out to be a poem but I write slowly. So while you wait, why not add a post or two....
This thread is dedicated to stories, in verse or otherwise of when poetry first reared its amorous head.
