Hi.

What is the deal with orgasms in my sleep?

Not complaining, mind you.

It has happened (on occasion - not frequently) since I was a teenager...didn't even know what it was first time it woke me up.

Now in my thirties, it seems to happen on average once or twice a month.

Sometimes it goes along with a dream I remember and other times not.

Anyway, I've never really discusssed it with anyone and thought I'd see if
any other women here experience this also?

Is it completely chemical, since NO physical touch is involved...?

Should I have posted this under random?

I just like this board the best.

Thanks!

I have many times, though not given a lot of thought as to why, just been happy I do. :D

Yep.

It's nice......

Just kind of an odd way to wake up sometimes.

And then I wonder, do I make noise?

I want your dreams. Other than when I was preggo with my middle child I rarely orgasm in my sleep. I can get hornier than all get out in my sleep, but not to an orgasm.

I've been woken up by an extreamly powerful orgasm many times. Infact some of the best orgasms I've ever had were well on there way before I was awake.

Like cat I never really thought much on why I have them, just enjoy them when they come. ;)

How is it this wasn't mentioned in sex ed class in high school?? I know there is no way I would forget this tidbit of info.

Not something I've ever experienced I'm afraid, damn it all!!!! Someone post a How-to for Goddess sake!! :)

LOL, I have done it in a traffic jam totally out of the blue, but I blame that one on a Chris Isaak riff which just sent me to heaven. :D

No way...really?

Chris Isaak, Sting...ya know, whoever.

Were you thinking about it or did it come out of nowhere? That must have been a nice surprise...did you keep your hands on the wheel the whole time?

Did you have your seat warmer on....<lol>

Hmm, it might make grocery shopping more entertaining, too. :D

I've had a fwe orgasms in my sleep. They don't happen often, but I thank my lucky stars when they do.

No seat warmer as it was already 36C, and he just came on the car radio and as usual I let myself get lost in his music while I waited for the traffic to move another inch and then BAM....have to say, he is one of the best acts to see live, along with k d lang....both sound exactly the same live as on CD/DVD....no need to enhance anything as they are both just perfect...oh and both have filthy dirty minds. :D

Orgasms are created in the brain, in response to stimulus... once the brain learns that pathway, the stimulation doesn't actually need to be there, just the brain thinking it's there can be enough. That's the basis for training someone to cum on command.

Dreaming can trigger orgasm in men ("nocturnal emissions") and though I wasn't aware of it occuring in women, now that someone mentions it, my reaction was - "Well, d'uh! That makes sense for them to have that too..."

Wish I had more info on it... sounds like an interesting research project!

EG, Thank you for your post. It is the science of it that I'd like to know more about. Since I'm snowed in today I'll have time to google my little heart out.

I am endlessly curious of the how and why of things and this (at least to me) seems an interesting topic for discussion or study.

I have wondered how many people..men in particular, were aware that this happens.

Here's a question - Do all young men (by all I mean 90+ percent) have nocturnal emissions/wet dreams? And is there a proper name for the equivalent in girls?

And I'm thinking it ought to be brought up to young girls in sex ed just as it is for young men.

Well.....now I'm rambling....Oh my, I need to get out of the house.....Melt Snow Melt!!

I usually have erotic dreams that cause me to have an orgasm or be REALLY close when I finally wake up....oohh, about three or four times a month.

It's never just HAPPENED, it's always been a sexy dream that causes it to happen. I usually end up dreaming about oral sex and...well, I guess I just can't help it. >_<

If you figure out what is causing them let me know okay? I want them far more often than I get them. Last night was full of nightmares and sore nipples.

*pouts*

EG said it pretty well. ANd it happens to most men, ((around 75%)) and the last survey I read for women was around 45% by age 19 have had them.

And it really is all in teh brain, girls who can come on command have an easier time of orgasming during the night, then those who can't. But ANY can do it.

Thank you Toa_Lin.

I appreciate your reply....did you find those stats in a Med. or Psych. Journal?

Perhaps an article, or link you could share?

..And if it's of interest, I'm thinking these orgasms are related to my cycle.

A peak or a drop of some hormone each month, that triggers them. Or triggers the dreams that trigger them.

Thanks again.

Hey...i want to do that! i've never even come close to having an orgasm while sleeping. i sometimes come close when i am just sitting there but i'm usually thinking about something that really turns me on.

Last night was unfortunately filled with nightmares. They actually involved Rose and MP....wierd.

i havnt orgasmed in my sleep that i know of, but my roomate tells me i was moaning Sir's name in my sleep earlier in the week

:(

I want these....!!! :D No, I have not had spontaneous orgasms in my sleep or upon wakening. I always felt lucky because I could orgasm from just reading sometimes or from breast & nipple play (just stimulated...not even BDSM methods).

But to have an orgasm just on waking...damn....I WANT that. Lucky girls! :p

Well..I'd love to orgasm from just nipple stimulation...but, it hasn't happened yet.

I think you're lucky!
