You might try a short explanatory note when you re-submit the story. Just explain that spellings were intentional. No guarantees, but I've seen this work many times when authors included dialect, slang, or arcane argot.

Just put "UK English spelling including dialect" in the notes. It worked for me.

Incidentally the Shorter Oxford also says that the plural of manservant is menservants.
