Okay, I've been reading through some threads, and there is one thing that really agrovates me. It's the people who spell words totally wrong, or are too lazy to type two letter words. I know my spelling is bad, but this is worse.

Example:
shood
rite
b
2

If your not going to take the time to type out the full word, I'm sure there are some "teen" bulitian boards out there.

im 22 and 2 old 4 teen boards

oh

and in your sig u speled 'honey' as 'hony'

glad 2 help *snuggles* Basia

rain,

my mother and I are back on civil speaking terms, but she still won't let me back in the house.

Hmmm....well that's some progress. Hang in there!
*hugs*

*hugs* ^_^ thanks.
I moved the last of my things into my boyfriends's place yesterday, and we're getting a bigger bed within the week. The guy needs a bigger bed anyway though. He's six foot six and sleeps on a twin size bed with his legs hanging off of the side.

Hony? But its Homer saying it, thats why! Damn it!

Agggghhhh, candy, sweet, sweet CANDY!

Basia, you rule! Did I ever tell you that? You rule!

Basia? Perhaps this entire thread would have a smidgen of validity if it were presented by someone who could spell.

I think we are in agreement about the issue though, don' t you?

I could have said you Rue, but then what would you Rue? ...The day?

BR's attacking a Brit?! OH NO, OH NO!

I get her point though, I hate when people won't spell out shit when they post...

"N E 1 want 2 fuck me?" Ugh...

Lets's use that lovely line. Is she saying that she's twenty-two, two, or four years old, because honestly I can't tell.

settle down hoss! no one's attacking anybody

I was simply pointing out the irony of this thread and it's original poster. 'Netspeak' leaves me cold, as well.

That's the number one reason we're starting a "Send a Ravenloft back to school" campaign.

I sould see Ravenloft in a school uniform, with the little hat and shorts and a lunchbox.....

Thats it! I rebel against school uniforms! Bah!

Yeah Ren, who's your lawyer? Huh? Yeah, thats what I thought...

NO ONE! Bah!

i can't believe this

sorry basia(great name btw), but our country is at war, you can't go into your mother's house, there's an anthrax and terrorism scare, and you are worried about people's spelling? get over it. i can't spell to save my life. (dyslexia doesn't help.) and i guarantee you i'm lazier than anyone you know. big deal. how could something like that bother you? no one is doing anything to you. there just doing it.
and i do hope things go well w/ your mom. nothing helped me to get along with my parents like moving out. good luck

Sorry Paganangel but I'm on Basia's side. When you have a serious problem with grammar, spelling, and/or punctuation, people tend to lose interest to whatever it is that you're trying to say. I won't mention any names but the thread was in referrence to a specific "black bi-sexual virgin" who preferred to identify herself as a "viring", whatever that is. And if you chose to write a sentence like "O U 8 1 2 ?", what intelligent human being do you think will care to read whatever you write in the future?

BASIA...........you're in my prayers, Sweetie. I'm glad to hear that you and your Mom are on talking basis now. I hope she soon allow you back in her house.

i c where u r coming from but...

its not a matter of intelligence. in fact...the whole purpose of writing is to communicate an idea as clearly as possible. ergo, u have a point about the spelling, but not the abbrieviating. actually the more you say in less space, the more that is retained and understood by the receiver, of the info. bedsides, as a language...english sux... any english teacher will tell you. even when one spells incorrectly, it is not a major faux pas in a forum such as this. it is only a distraction when one is dealing with art or proifessional material. here...i still say big deal.
sorry, but i am a minmalist to the core.

an interviewer once asked hemingway, (knowing he was a minimalist) "What is the smallest number of words you can use to tell a story?"
Hemingway thought a moment and replied, "Six."
"Six?"
"Baby's shoes for sale. Never worn."

I disagree.

You are correct that the whole purpose of writing is to communicate and idea as clearly as possible. But no one will know what that point is if they never read your post because the spelling/abbreviating are so irritiating. How well does your point get across if you are put on "ignore?"

Vocabulary, cadence and writing styles are unique to each individual, however there is no leverage when it comes to spelling. In that area there are no shades of grey. Errors happen and can be expected from time to time, but I find it next to impossible to accomodate poor spelling habits.

Literotica is a writing site and this message board was set up primarily for its contributors. Is it asking too much to expect that, as members of this board, we at least spell the words we choose correctly?

If you can't spell out the big words, then use the little ones that you can spell!

yes, but who would be so closed minded?

people who refuse to read simply because of spelling or style probably wouldn't get it anyway. their loss. i can't b resposible 4 evceryone's idiosychrosies.

actually blushing rose,

it is rumoured that shakespeare never spelled his own name the same way twice. in the grand scheme all these "rules" are fairly new. who draws the lines? language is dynamic. always has been. this is actually bigger than us. when i was a kid alot was noit in the dictionary. it is now...much to many peoiple's infuriation...well big deal. i admit, a lot of stuff gets 2 me sometimes, but that's just how it is. like i said, bigger than us. accept it, and you begin to enjoy reading in yet another way. can you aimagine publishers having cast aside joyce, faulkner, and hemmingway because they broke some grammer rules. (Actually between them i would say they broke EVERY grammer rule.)
