hydrex said:How do we get manu to give us a automatic spell checker? Ok maybe that's asking to much. How about it manu can we get a spell checker for our replys?
Weird Harold said:Even if Manu installed one, I probably wouldn't use it and contiue to use C&P from MS Word and it's much more complete spelling, grammar, and thesaurus functions for posts that I really care out the speling in.
There are numerous add-in spell checkers for IE and other browsers (which google will turn up if you care to look for them) for those who either can't spell or are prone to excessive typos and care about adressing the problem.
There is also the probable annoyance factor an automatic spell check would cause because of the security settings I use even at sites in my "trusted sites zone" like Lit. I don't relly need to be forced to deny the cooky, scripting, activeX and other requests other "built-in" formum spell-checkers generate.

Weird Harold said:Actually, I think the fourth option in the pollis mispelled:
"spell checker? We don't need no stinkin' spell checker. "
Should be:
"smell chucker? We don't nod no stanchion spool chocker."

hydrex said:LOL yes I thought about all the problems with an automatic spell checker.
Weird Harold said:The people who need to use a spell check the most usually can't spell well enough for a spell checker to figure out what they meant to say.
It takes a very sophisticated spell-checker to turn "soeling" into the intended "spelling" instead of "sailing" or to turn "filasofee" into "Philosophy."
The sad fact is that if you can't spell, then a spell checker is NOT going to help and if you CAN spell, you don't really need one except the one between your ears.
