yes but i was also going through the construction zone

fines are doubled

don't bother.

Speeding in construction zones and school zones are usually given NO leeway. Just pay your fine and don't waste your time trying to fight it.

and slow down ;)

My best friend lives in Binghamton and there was an accident Friday where 3 construction workers were hit and killed by someone speeding. I agree...slow down, he wants you there in one piece. Piece sounds so sexual. ;)

i have since slowed down
i was going 75 mph
in normal conditions this is normal since it is only 10 over the limit

but because of the cones it is a no-no

PLUS
i really can't afford to have my insurance go up

Good luck - but I hope you have some better excuses than those. Also, it depends on the juridiction but they may be able to reduce the points, at least. Most of the time they are not given leeway to reduce the fines unless the charge is changed.

Tell that excuse and he will say if the others were driving off a cliff would you.

Wear a low cut shirt and hope for the best. Other than that, you're probably outta luck :p

Of course you didn't know I am the magistrate, and now that I've seen this place, we are going to be able to make other er, uh.....araingments.

I don't know...but "honesty is the best policy". Give it in all of its hot details.
If the magistrate is a man, you might be surprised at his understanding. ;)

1) slow down

2) If there were no actual people there or equipment working, you can plead that - here in Washington state and I think in Oregon too and maybe other states, if there is no actual construction happening (i.e., no people there or machines working) at the time of the ticket, then they cannot apply the doubling of the fine as you were not endangering the construction workers.

3) Don't plead stuff like you were in a hurry - that just makes you look worse. Just tell the truth with no embellishments, but leave out anything incriminating unless they ask you directly about it. Never lie.

4) Telling them you were going with the flow of traffic is good.

I almost got pegged a couple of times yesterday but apparently they didn't get a lock on me or weren't interested. A few days ago I saw one cop just in time and slowed down, moved over and he pegged the guy who was following me instead. I can tell with my new car I am going to have to get a radar detector installed.
