We didn't let the kids have them when they were younger.
This year we allowed it.
But we're those ridiculous over-cautious kinds of parents. We have the hose running, a bucket full of water ready, we do the fireworks on a huge board in the middle of the yard away from everything else . . .
It was only last year that we allowed the kids to start lighting them.
For me is was "Here kid, have some firecrackers....(blackcats and M-80s of course) and bottle rockets. I think I was five?

We had to buy our own. Do you have any idea how many pop bottles you had to turn in to get a couple of Roman candles and some snakes?
