Spankings- fun or punishment?

Based on the recent round of "spanking" threads, I have a question. Maybe more like a theory I'd like to test.

Could it be that people who consider spankings to be sexual, either giving or getting them for pleasure, are the people who don't believe in spanking their children for discipline?

Could it be that people who use spanking as a form of discipline for their children are the people who don't see any sexual pleasure in getting or giving spankings?

I can only answer for myself on this Cheyenne. I know there is no way you could ever get into spankings, and I accept that, but honestly I can't begin to explain to you the reasons why I like them.

I do spank my son, but only when he pushes me to the point of no return, and then it's only a light one on his bottom, and he is fully clothed. It's more to get his attention back on track than to punish him.

Someone once said to me that the reason they think I'm so into Discipline spankings is because of the way I am. You see I was raised very straight laced and I DO have this very wild side that I seem to only let few privy too. He once said "you feel comfortable with being spanked because your being punished for what you feel is wrong, nevermind that it's "normal" for others too, in your mind it's "wrong", so to be told off for what your doing makes you feel better for doing it". He'd be right in thinking that, but only to a certain extent.

I don't know if I could ever "full on" spank my son, he'd have to do extremely wrong for that to happen. I'm one to discuss rather than spank, but I also know that as a sub (and please don't take that and turn it into an argument ... everyone), a good spanking will make me listen to my Dom when talks and whatnot don't work.

Quite simply, No I don't punish my son through spanking, I go the "Time Out" route.

Just so you know, when I DO happen to spank him, nothing sexual is going through my mind ... that would just make me plain sick.

You'd be correct, Nicole. I'm not into any sexual aspect of spankings. And if I had kids, I would use spanking sometimes as punishment.

I was just curious if there was any kind of a similar pattern for others here. No judgement in this thread about whether any spankings are good or bad, for adult or children.

Two Different kinds of spanking.

I am a strong advocate of corporal punishment for children, and I'm also someone who could easily get into spanking as foreplay.

As far as I'm concerned, they are two different things and are easily kept separate.

Yeah, I could see that. I'm one of the ones who enjoys spankings for pleasure. For the most part, I don't believe in spankings for punishment for kids (then again, I was damn near beaten as a child, so my reasons are kinda personal).
