Spammer leaving comments in my stories

How can I report this individual, whose comments offer links to websites selling porn videos. I know I can simply delete the comments, but I want this person to get banned, or at least be stopped from posting so I don't have to go delted his comments everytime he puts up his spam.

As far as I know the only way to ban this person is to send a PM to Laurel. I don't think she would personally handle it but everybody keeps saying that they send one to her for odd problems. Now these odd problems are in relation to where a story is placed so I'm not positive a ban can happen to someone posting feedback of a spam nature.

There's been an avalanche of spam on Lit lately. One of my threads was recently infected by some yoyo pushing golf clubs. I set off a rant and the bum disappeared, but I'm sure others will take his/her place. There's currently a rash of what I guess is spam in Japanese on the SF BB, which I can't report because I can't read Japanese so I can't be certain that it is spam. Of course, if it is Japanese spam, it probably isn't getting much of a response.

I hadn't reported the spam yet, and when I checked tday for new comments the spam had been "removed by administration."

So either someone else reporteed it and I thank them, or someone in authority saw this post and took care of it. If so, I thank them.

Well alright so actually I don't bother to look that often and it keeps being something like first dick threads when I do check the listings so I don't wander in.

Now as for banning by IP there is a problem with that, if the spammer is using a phone modem, the IP that is banned, may be a legitimate user the next time. Not to mention there are several programs that let you access the web with a proxy IP. I think nominally for people who have serious restrictions on their activities at work, which is technically not illegal but spammers use it. Banning by IP isn't easy, it can be done I'm sure but I seriously doubt it would happen, they have other things to do.

You get rid of one bunch, another crops up. Glad the proprietors are keeping an eye out for these bums, but it behooves us as well to report every one of these toadstools.
