I just checked my Yahoo mail that I only use of signups and shit, and there, in my inbox, was a message with the subject "We billed it to your Visa" and inside was this:

Hi!! It's Cindy. Remember me from school? I thought you might want to see what I look like now so I had these pictures and videos made.

Of course it's a porn site so I didn't even click on it (because I don't need to pay for porn) but dear lord? First they freak me out by saying they billed something to my credit card and then I'm supposed to remember "Cindy".

Is there some kind of law or anything against false billing statements or something? This one really pissed me off.

Hmmmm... maybe forward it to Visa and let them handle it?

The ones I hate are the "Undeliverable Mail" ones...you think it's a bounced mail, then open to find some cheesy spam crap.

Cheyenne, I didn't actually GET billed for anything. That was just the subject to make me go "what the fuck did I order? when? billed me for WHAT?" and I did just that. I'm not a lawyer and I admit I have zero legal training, but isn't that dancing around the edge of fraud or something?

I would forward it but I get the impression Visa wouldn't give a flying fuck about some spammer.

I'm not sure. They may not like their "Visa" name being connected with Spam, being used in someone else's advertising for free, if you think about it.

Complain to the right people

Set up your browser e-mail client to show all headers when you get a message like this.

The forward the message to the address indicated as "from" in the header info farthest DOWN the list.

If you look at the example below (between the rows of asterisks), I highlighted in bold the address I used for the SPAM complaint. And I added the word SPAM at the beginning of the subject line. Virtually every e-mail service has a no-SPAMming policy and if they get complaints, they generally threaten to shut down the offending account of origin.

Good luck

HOT,HOT,HOT

If that's the same Cindy I went to school with, she's worth every penny!!:D

I got the same thing & I don't know any Cindys, I just delete everything. That is one of the reasons I have a hotmail account. My regular email is known only to my family & a few friends.

Cindy stole my visa number too!

I recieved the same e mail two nights in a row......

So, I am assuming they are spam. Of course, I will be checking my next visa bill very carefully.

*crossing fingers*
