Joseph Brand sat at the helm of his vessel. It was a small, stealthy corvette, fit with the latest stealth technology, and then some of his own developments now. He had a functioning ghost drive that masked his signature up to docking point. By then, he was impossible. to stop. A stun cannon that rotated with a particle cannon and las cannon completed the main gun, as well as having gatling cannons for extra firepower. He had quad engines on his ship, knowing that he'd need the extra thrust.

Joseph had this vessel lined up. It was from a wealthy class, a large royal freighter. Luckily, there weren't any major royals on the ship that he could see from the hacked manifest logs. Instead, there were only a few minor nobles. Still, this haul could potentially land him in the range of 20 million credits, and that was before he sold the freighter for close to 75 million credits.

He had waited out of Parthon IV, tailing the ship into the jump. He had their destination, so got to the jump point faster. Once there, he waited. When they came out of the jump station, he had hit the stun cannon, knowing that the initial round would knock out the nobles. From there, he moved in, activating the stun cannon again. He finally positioned his ship at the docking bay before seeing what all he could move to his ship.

He piled the unconscious passengers and crew that he could find, using a bio scan to make sure he didn't miss anyone, before proceeding to dump them into a life orb. He activated the beacon, before attaching mooring lines to the ship and his corvette, and proceeding to the pirate world of Carsen VII. He would get a good bounty with the cargo, as well as the ship, hopefully more than the estimate of 95 million creds.

He was just getting ready to enter the jump when his AI warned him of a human form on his ship. He wasn't exactly sure who that would be, since he ran with AI or bots only. He pulled his plasma pistol out of its holster before making his way to the loading bay, where the ships were connected.

He moved to the door before shouting, "Who are you and why are you on my ship. I'd suggest you present yourself, elsewise I'll be forced to use a stun charge and then let you take a walk in space without a safety suit." He waited, not sure if he'd have to follow through with his threat, but knowing he'd do it if needed.

"Please don't shoot!", Zoe shouted from where she was hiding.

She put her hands behind her head and took a couple of steps forward, so the man pointing a gun to her could see she was unarmed.

Hopefully what he could not see was that she was a girl. She was dressing as a nobleman, a classic suit and her hair cut.

Zoe was running away from her miserable life. Or that was what she thought. She was sure a lot of girls would die to be in her skin, having a wealthy family, being engaged to a rich Lord... But not Zoe. She had wanted to live an adventure, enjoy life, travel around the galaxy and visit every planet known to man. But her father hadn't agreed with her.

And there she was now. After dressing in his younger brother's clothes she had come aboard the first leaving ship. She hadn't even know where it was going to. She didn't care, really, she just wanted to leave. Zoe was scared someone would notice she was a girl dressed in a guy's clothes. But no one did. Her breasts were quite small, something she had always hated, it had come quite handy when trying to hid them. People at the ship were to busy, and she had managed to fool everybody. She had even been hit by a girl! Everything was going perfectly.

But once the ship was attacked, she knew her trip was ruined. And she couldn't let her father know she had escaped. As soon as anybody found out who she was, they would probably ask her family for a ransom. But she didn't want to be home again.

She though she had fruitfully managed to aboard the attacking ship. She had hidden as best as she could, and had planned to stay there until the ship hit the first port. Then she would manage to get out unnoticed.

But her plan had failed badly.

She only hoped the man looking at her couldn't recognise who she was. Hopefully not even notice she was a woman.

Jordan looked over the young man standing in front of him. He could tell he was a nobleman. They had more soft features than the humans he was used to. He looked at his hands, silently cursing. He hoped they were rougher than what they were. He needed someone on the ship who could help, not just be a body in the way.

He didn't take ransoms, as that drew too big of heat from the galactic federation. If he just took cargo but let the passengers live, he'd go under the radar and not be pursued. He sighed and then looked the man, well, boy over and then holstered his pistol.

"Follow along," he said, not waiting to see if the boy followed. There weren't any other weapons on the ship besides the main guns, and his pistol. He was leading the way to the state rooms, only two being present on this model.

"Do you have any useful trades? Can you navigate, are you a mechanic, or can you work the hydroponics? Anything that would be of use on this ship, or are you just a worthless body that I dump as soon as I can," he asked, his voice gruff from having to play royal babysitter.

Zoe was so glad the captain was so civilised. The moment she heard him, she feared he would kill her right there and then. But he seemed more reasonable than that.

And when he put down the weapon Zoe felt so relaxed.

She followed him around the ship, not wanting to cause any more trouble. For a moment she wondered how she was always stuck having to follow other people's orders.

"Do you have any useful trades?" he suddenly asked.

"Yes, sir. I'm not a useless, I can assure you that."

As much as she hated her family, she had to admit they had provided hr with a vast knowledge of the world. She knew the most common galactic languages, maps held no secrets for her, she could drive as well as fix some motors. The "manly" things she had learned by herself, but without her family's resources she wouldn't.

"I'm afraid I don't know a thing about hydroponics, but I know a thing or two about motors. And I know the coordinates of every planet in this galaxy and some from the nearest ones," she started bragging.

Zoe didn't realise her pitch had risen while she talked.

"And I may now some other things that might come in handy," she finished, lowering her tone a little.

She guessed he hadn't realised she was a girl, and she intended to keep it that way for as long as she could?

Jordan nodded, taking the prisoner's skills into account. He didn't think they would amount to much, but he needed all the help he could get if there was trouble when he tried to drop the ship off. He knew he would need to put the young pup through his paces.

"Okay. We will work everything out tomorrow. Right now, you need to sleep. Just know that if you try anything, I will kill you without a second thought, and no one will find your body. Do I make myself clear?" he said, his voice cold and emotionless. It was a common practice with space pirates to just leave bodies floating in space, where they would drift and become lost forever.

He didn't pay any attention to the boy's rise in his voice, pegging it up to his being nervous or afraid. He himself was a rather young captain, at only 20 years of age, but he was rather large for the human standard. He knew that he had some Charred blood in him, as the Charred stood easily over 8 feet tall. He wasn't sure how much, and didn't really feel like running the tests. Suffice to say, his 7 foot, well muscled frame was imposing to any of the races but the Charred.

"If you need anything, ask Wilkins. He is the AI, and has been told to let me know what your needs are. Again, try anything funny, and you cease to exist. Now then, I bid you goodnight, and we will see whether or not you are up to the task," he said.

He left his prisoner to himself, before heading to the bridge. He sat in his seat, before plotting a course to the nearest shipping yard, so that he could dump this brig as fast as he could, dust his tracks, and get rid of this young pup.

Speaking of young pups, he said, "Wilkins, keep a vid feed of our prisoner at all times, but make sure it is undetectable. I need to know if he is hiding anything, or tries anything at all, understand?"

"Yes, Captain," Wilkins answered.

"Oh, alert me if there is anything abnormal about the young lad. And do a bio scan as soon as you can so we can learn who we are dealing with. I know it's new technology, and I only just installed it, but you have access to every royal family, so I need to know if I need to look over my shoulder, or if there won't be anything too big," he said as an afterthought.

"Aye, sir. I'll take care of it and alert you once you are done. As it stands, our guest is just looking over the room he was assigned. I'll move onto the bio scan and then find out who this young man is," Wilkins said.

Jordan nodded before turning the outer lights off of each ship and turning the ghost drive on, cloaking them effectively. He then engaged the warp drive, knowing that it would be the fastest way to reach the pirate shipping yard that would have a buyer for his cargo.

When the captain threatened to kill her, Zoe was scared, and only nodded with her head. Of course, she wasn't going to try anything stupid. She wasn't trained in any escaping, running or fighting skills, so 'trying anything' was out of the question. She believed that if she behaved nicely, he would drop her at any port safe and sound.

She knew that even if he was a young captain, he seemed more or less her same age, he could be cruel and fierce if he needed to be. Besides, his height and muscle frame scared her a bit. She knew it would surely be because of some Charred blood, which wouldn't mean much trouble. But it could also mean some Abrys bloodline, who were prone to anger and fighting. And Zoe didn't want to take the risk.

"Good night, captain," she almost whispered as he left the room.

When Zoe was left alone in the room, she stood sitting on her bunk for a while. She was too scared to catch some sleep, but she was really tired.

Also, she was a bit uncomfortable. For her breasts to be unnoticed, she had had to wrap her chest tightly with a piece of fabric. Her breasts were small, so she didn't have to hide that much, but her nipples were beginning to feel a bit sore after being cramped for so many hours.

Zoe needed to let them breathe and little, so she hoped the captain wasn't looking, cause it would ruin her cover. She undid the lace under her shirt and started unwrapping the clothing under her shirt. She was so quick, and soon she was lying under the blankets trying to fall asleep.

"The universe is a dangerous place," he father had told her. She thought he was exaggerating, but now she knew he was right. And somehow she wished she had listened to him and stayed home. Now she wouldn't be in such a trouble.

"Sire, we have a complication," Wilkins said, rousing Jordan. Jordan immediately looked up, motioning for a holo-projection to be brought up. he was prepared to see a ship moving towards his location. Instead, he saw the new passenger.

"What's the problem, Wilkins?" he asked, yawning from his nap.

"Sire, it appears our passenger has a few secrets. I completed the bio scan as you asked, and our passenger is not the person you think. She is in fact a royal, and one of the daughters of a royal merchant trader," Wilkins said.

"She?" asked Jordan, wondering how big of a mess he had gotten himself into. Taking a male royal wasn't seen as anything bad. Taking a female royal, however, automatically seemed to rule her out of the family, even if the ship that captured her only had one person. There was a stigma that once a pirate captured you, you were already common goods.

Jordan shook his head. "What do you think the most likely course of action will be?" he asked, looking at the holo-projection of the girl sleeping in her bed. He could see now that she did have feminine features, and the slight swelling around her chest under the blankets was a dead giveaway.

"Sire, you might end up having to either run, or make sure she becomes useful to us. Her father and fiancée are both powerful lords in their own right, and both could bring their full power to bear on you," Wilkins said.

Jordan cursed at the news. Not only was her father rich and powerful, but her fiancée was a powerful royal as well. "We need to move, and quickly. We need to sell this merchant brig. We should be docking as soon as we exit the jump. Wilkins.....What will happen to the girl if we leave her with a royal family?" Jordan asked, afraid of the answer.

"She will either be exiled, killed, or imprisoned for her life for being captured by a pirate. Even though you haven't touched her, they will think you have, and that she has been soiled. Your best option is to hold onto her and see if she can learn a valuable skill that will come in handy," Wilkins said. Jordan knew that he had no emotions, since he was an AI, but it sounded almost like Wilkins was sorry he had to say that.

Jordan stretched as he got out of bed, and then slipped on clothes. "Make sure we stay on course. I need to go talk to the princess," he said to Wilkins. He heard an affirmative ping, and then went to the guest room. He knocked softly, before opening it.

"Zoe," he said loud enough to wake her up. He knew that that would be the giveaway that he knew, so decided to have it out and done with. "We need to talk," he said, waiting for her to fully wake up.

"Zoe. We need to talk," she suddenly heard.

How had he found about it? Not only he knew she was a girl, but he also knew who she was.

She shouldn't have been so surprised. She should have known it would be too difficult to identify her, after all, technology had been improved for that. But she had just hoped he wouldn't care to find out.

She had only wanted to travel the universe and come back home in some years. But now, it was all ruined. If he knew who she was, he would know how rich her family was. And he would be a fool if he didn't ask her family for a ramson; any amount of money he could think of, he would get it. And she'd be back home again, trapped. Even more than before. Unless...

"If you try to hand me over to my family I'll say you raped me. You won't get a cent," she told him seriously, as she sat on the bed, looking at him.

He wouldn't do it, she thought. He didn't seem the kind to do that. But everybody would believe her.

She was going to speak again but she got stuck on that thought. Wouldn't everybody believe he had done it anyway? Even if he didn't touch her? She would be in a great mess then. Dead to her society, exiled for life.

Wasn't that what she had wanted after all? Maybe, but not this way.

Her mind was filled with thoughts, she wasn't unable to find an easy way out of her mess. Without noticing, she started breathing faster, her heart pounding stronger.

"Gods, what have a done?" she muttered, realising now how bad her situation was.

Her blood started thundering in her head and she fainted for the anxiety.

Jordan moved quickly, securing the falling Zoe in his arms. He didn't want her to faint on him, so instead, waited as he sat her on her bed.

He waited for her to wake up before looking at her.

"I'm not going to kick you off of my ship, nor am I going to rape you. And just for the record, no one will care anyways," he said, shaking his head sadly.

"You and I appear to be stuck together for the time being," he said, looking her over.

"Now then, were you telling the truth about your skills?" he asked. He needed someone who was useful on his ship, otherwise they would just cause problems that he would have to deal with.

"As you well know, this is a pirate ship. That means that you will have to obey my rules, and help out when we take cargo. I know it might not be what you wanted, but that's what we are dealing with now," he said.

"Now then, tell me about yourself, and we can start working to see how we are going to operate together. How does that sound?" he asked.

Zoe was quick on waking up, a brief lose of conscience for worrying too much.

She let the captain speak, explain the situation, and she listened carefully, making sure she understood everything he said.

She was clear on two things: she was stuck on a pirate ship, and she might as well be useful.

"I know I look like a helpless childish girl," she started.

She was a petite young lady, but she had a lot of knowledge stuck inside her mind.

"I can't handle heavy things, I'm not strong. But all my life I've been piling information in my brain, and I can assure it is full of interesting data," that was one thing she was proud of, and probably it would now save her from being sent away floating in space.

"I know a lot about the near galaxies. Their planets, peoples and main goods to be found in them. I know about history and wealthy families; I most surely have met most of them and could tell your secrets nobody else could know about. And I know a thing or two about mechanics, but only theory. I could never put a hand on a real motor, you know, that is not very ladylike. But I learn really quick, I could try," she finished, she wanted to make sure to be a useful passenger.

He could believe her or not, but it was all true. She would be a fool if she tried to lie to the man.

"So, ask me whatever you want, if you don't believe me," she saw a hint of misbelief in his eyes.
