I know there are a few of us here on Lit that live in the Southwest, but I was wondering if anyone has decided to come to Pheonix for the conference in January?? If anyone is this would be an ideal time to plan a little get together.

I know several leathergirls who are involved in planning, but I'm not able to make it out there myself. These girls are great planners though, so it should be a good time!

So Southwest Leather is upon me or shall be in about 20 hours or so. So I am like going to be totally not on the computer for a few days but I will be nice enough to describe what I will be going through come Monday morning at some point.

Do we know how to say "Not enough notice" I'm all of a six hour drive or so from P-town.!

Thank you, leeroy. I will SO check back on Monday to see what you got up to.

Oh! And don't forget to take notes on what people wore. I just love hearing about fetish clothing!

Thank you in advance. :nana:

He could just take a camera!

I'm so envious. Nothing like that ever happens in South Dakota. :(

Today I was chatting with some other interpreters, and the subject of leather came up. One of them, a gay guy, mentioned a big event this past weekend, and I said "oh yeah, I was interpreting for that all weekend." He said that he had gone to one of the buildings where it was being held, and he was shocked by it and found it disgusting. I wanted to say "those are my friends, you asshole!" But we were at work, so I kept my mouth shut. I should have told him that leather people are some of the nicest folks you will EVER meet, but I let it go. Bah.

I am confused, if he was shocked why did he go?

Was he working there or was it a curiosity thing?

No, he was just going to see what all the fuss was about - the event was highly publicized in the two gay publications in DC. He seems a bit snobby - he was being elitist about some other unrelated stuff too. He didn't leave a favorable impression with me, and I think the leather community doesn't need him either!

Is he gay? If not how'd he know about osmething that was highly publiciszed in the gay publications?

Beyond that, when someone like that doesn't have a favorable impression take it as a compliment. You only need to worry if they like you.

He was very gay. He referred to himself as a "homo" repeatedly. At one point I referred to my partner and he said "wait a minute, are you a LESBIAN?" I said umm...yeah. (I'm totally out at work, but he's new, we hadn't met before.) So one of the other interpreters said "huh, what are you guys talking about?" And the gay guy said "she's a - she's a dyke!" To which the other guy said "yeah, so?" Because everybody else knows. :p

I wouldn't use "dyke" to describe somebody who didn't already use it to describe herself, though. I do use dyke for myself, but he didn't know that. :p

A big jerkoff all around, mostly.

He sounds a mess.

Not sure if he is a wannabe gay (is that possible) or just an idiot.

Even non-gays know not to call people dyke, don't they?

In Scotland 'dyke' means a dry stone wall and in Lincolnshire England it means a ditch. Its easier to avoid the word altogether!

Oh Gracie That made me laugh. Thank you for that. :)

Now back to the orginal topic of the Leather Conference: Unless I win the lottery I can't go.

Who can go?

It's funny, but outside of the gay leather community, a LOT of the gay men I've met are seriously intolerant of alternative sexuality... which I find damned strange. Mention bondage and leather and they get all squicky. And anal sex with a woman? OMG you'd think someone suggested they go down on a duck... And if they think us straights are bad, they way some of them carry on about lesbians... *rolls his eyes*

Sorry about the hijack... I wish I could go to SWLF. Maybe when I win the lottery.

OH my GOD what a hyjack that was going on there..

It was good, bad and ugly, but until I get some more sleep like after work tomorrow I will not try and put it into words. But I had a blast, back into the poorhouse from toys and fetish clothes I bought, and wiser then when I started.

I'm comfortable calling myself a dyke, but I wouldn't refer to another woman that way unless she said it was okay. This guy was arrogant and rude all over. :p

Long Post read at your peril

So its Monday sorta. I think I am awake enough to go over the weekend highs and lows.

So we start to go on Friday and just leaving the house we incounter problems, first it was raining(first of two days) and then I forgot my leather jock at the space that last Saturday. So when we go to the hotel I was in a bit of ill humor. I got to help out on the table on this day for about 1 hour while one of the ladies took care of an errend. The first workshop I wanted to attend was closed, why because of the funky weather in Texas and Olkahoma. So I attened another class that I wanted, the first slot of workshops had 3 I wanted to attend. It was on serving when you have no one to serve. I took a bit away from the class. I then after this class hit the vendor area. I bought three things the first day. From a fellow Apex member I bought a tomcat made cat of nine tail. Then I got a shirt and shorts rubber outfit. This is my second fetish costume, but with this one I can mix and match with the first WOOT. I did go to the party this night and I did get to play but only for about 30 minutes. The interesting thing is in that small time I got to the point of crying. This is only the second scene that this is happened on.

Saturday morning dawns and I put don my chain harness, Mstr Alex's boots, camo pant, and jean jacket. The first class I went to was Looking for a Master and finding a Daddy. The thought behind the workshop was that you might be looking for one type of relationship but you might find another and you should be open to something unexpected. This class sorta sums up the thought behind my relationship with Mstr Alex, not really looking for this relationship but I seem to stumbled onto it and I am willing to explore where its going to go. The next class was the one that made the biggest impression on me. Daddy/boy one couples relationship. The presenters gave us an insight into their relationship in the past year. The presenters were the Us Daddy/boy of 2006. It just helped to give me a good starting point to build on for my personal knowledge. Now this day I was suppose to work the Apex table and I did some but some of the time I was suppose to work it Master Alex and I were showing off his toys. Of course this garnered more then a few passerbys to stop and look and even question what the toys were.
This some time of modeling netted me a at least one mention into a magazine.

*Deep breath*

While looking at some floggers on Saturday, I got hooked up with someone at the conference. I did get to play with him. I had asked a friend to be my safety buddy but we ran over time the modeling that he got busy. Now safety would say that I should have then said no to playing with this stranger, but I took the risk and did. Now I was a bit fearful while we played together. It was a good experience and if I could play with this man again I would. Lets fastforeword to the Apex party. I played with Sir and one of the people from Friday again. Then someone that I haven't seen in a few months came and I asked her to play and got a suprise. She and her Sir played with me, so it was two for the price of one. :cathappy:

Sunday was more of a wrap up day for me because I had to work that night. So to wrap up my thoughts in a few words. Total play slut, my body is still a bit sore in plays from playing 5 times in two days. Increased desire to solidify relationship with Master Alex and have his influence effect my life. And a bit of wake up call on my percieved reputation in our community.

Leeroy it sounds like you had a busy but good time.

The workshops sound interesting too.

I admit it - I'm totally jealous. Wish I could have been there! MAL was a couple of weeks ago and it feels like such small potatoes...no workshops at all, just vendors and a contest! (And LOTS of playing and partying.) I wish LLC was going to be closer than Minneapolis, I had a good time last year in NYC (even if I was working my ass off the whole time) and I'd like to go again...lots to learn from those workshops.

We are starting to talk about maybe attending Thunder in the Mountains up in Denver, CO this year too. Sir has some family not far from there and there is a friend that makes dvd there too. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will know on way or another.
