Born in Birmingham, grew up in Huntsville, moved to Columbia...Went away for college and some adventure, moved back to Columbia, been here ever since.

Well, with the occassional side trip to Atlanta, B'ham, H'ville, Houston, Austin... *grin*

And Alabama doesn't have a coast. It has "ocean front swamp". *chuckles*

There aren't as many of us here as I thought there would be.

Me - raised in Florida and have lived in here in Atlanta for the past 10 years.

Having been raised in the south I am blessed with that uniquely southern politeness. I can't tell you how many times I have favorable reactions to my use of the terms yes maam and no maam.

It can be a lot of fun, especially to a flirt like me.

Well, I adore good manners BUT call me mamm and I feel OLD. Flirting is an art when done well, and simply part of my nature.

Well, even though they haven't done much of anything since Bear was there, I'm still an Alabama fan. Grew up on Alabama football, although my parents are Auburn fans now.

Never saw this thread before, not sure how I missed it. I was born and raised on Mobile Bay, went to U of Alabama the year Bear Bryant died. Lived in Northwest Florida for a bit after that, then moved to Arizona to be near family after my oldest was born. And as soon as my youngest turns 18, I'm heading back that way - anywhere between Gulf Shores and Panama City.

Well the Vols had the pleasurev of letting us hand them the game. We made it honest later but still stung. :( Still love my Gamecocks though.

Even though I grew up in Huntsville and I'm a dyed-in-the-wool 'Bama fan (and an Auburn fan _except_ when they play 'Bama), I worked for the University of SC for 15 years. You don't do that without some school spirit rubbing off. Besides, you gotta love being a fan for a school that gives you an excuse to yell....

GO COCKS! ! ! ! !

LOL, that reminds me. I go to school at Jacksonville State, and when I came to orientation here several years ago, the counselors told us a little story. Back before JSU changed divisions, our biggest rival was Troy. Now, Troy's mascot is the Trojan, and ours is the Gamecock. Some smartass made a sign for the JSU/Troy game that said, "Your Trojans Can't Hold Our Cocks!"

I would've killed to have seen that. :D

I don't know if it's still an official slogan, but a few years ago, the saying was, "Our cocks are up and coming!"

Born in Oklahoma, bounced around Maryland and Illinois thru my school years. Stationed at Fort Hood, fell in love with Texas especially the lakes. Dreamed of living by a lake here in Texas so I went and kidnapped my Princess. Brought Her down to Texas made my dream a reality She never knew She had. Now We live by a beautiful lake in the piney woods of East Texas it really is a great life:)

Be great to meet some people in Austin

Might have to see if I can get Sunday off!:) We would love to go to this especially since We havn't been able to attend any events yet,(nothing ever seems to work into my work schedule "sucks working weekends".) It always seems work, funds, or kids always hamper our luck.:( It would be great to hit Austin Saturday night, and then cruise up to watch the Nascar race in Grapevine on Sunday. I really could enjoy a fun weekend for a change! I can't even remember the last time We just took off by ourselves and let loose. Life has just been so stressful lately and the holidays havn't even got here yet. It would really be nice to surprise the Mistress by pulling this one off. If not diffinitely plan on attending the Houston Ball next year came close but just couldn't pull it off last year. It going to be hard to pull off but, I'm going to at least give it a HELL of a try to make it this weekend!!!!:)
