South Korea President Leads the Way, Declares Martial Law

Racist fascist conspiracy loon Chloe demonstrates that she is also gullible and dumb. 😄

LOL

Preemptive pardons for political allies for things they have never been charged with? They must realize they've gone way over the line and would be found guily, because if you're not guilty of anything, why would you worry. This is BS. What happened to "No one is above the law."

But it does prove everything that was ever said about the Democrats being criminals is correct. And in reading the judges response to Hunter Biden's motion for dismissal, it is clear pre-emptive pardons are "outside the Authority of the Executive Branch ".

I expect you to only be able to defend yourself with an LOL but wouldn’t have been nice for one of your admirers to step in like a white knight as I’ve bitch slapped you around these past few days?

Bitch-slapping? You call THAT bitch-slapping. rotflmao.....Noooooo, you actually come across as rather a nice person who gets a little wound up sometimes, that's all, so I don't even raise a sweat about it. Just smile and go, oh, Bn2f must've had a hard day. Never mind. A nice cup of coffee and a few bitchy posts on the PB and they'll recover.

Big hug......

Why did Yoon try this in the first place? What crisis was there, that seemed to require martial law?

Basically, he's very unpopular. The opposition won a majority in Parliament in the last elections and have been rejecting his budgets and, I think, legislation, and they also want his wife investigated / prosecuted for corruption. He got the hump and tried to invoke martial law - looks like the military obeyed the order as a knee-jerk reaction but the thought better of it. The opposition voted to reject martial law, as per South Korean Constitution (President can invoke martial law but it has to be approved by Parliament - it wasn't) and it sounds like his own party is pissed with him now as well.

Yoon's surprise declaration of martial law, which he cast as aimed at his political foes, was unanimously voted down by 190 lawmakers in parliament. His own party urged him to lift the decree. Under South Korean law, the president must immediately lift martial law if parliament demands it by a majority vote. The leader of South Korea's ruling party has now also called on the president to explain his decision to impose martial law. Han Dong-hoon, who leads the president's own People's Power Party, urged the president to 'personally and thoroughly explain this dire situation in detail'. Dong-hoon also called for the defence minister, who proposed the martial law, to be fired and others responsible to be 'held strictly accountable'.

'As the ruling party, we will do everything within our power to minimise economic and diplomatic damage,' he said. Yoon did not cite any specific threat from the nuclear-armed North, instead focusing on his domestic political opponents. Yoon, a career prosecutor who was elected in May 2022 by a margin of less than one per cent, has been unpopular, with his support ratings hovering at around 20 per cent for months. His People Power Party (PPP) suffered a landslide defeat at a parliamentary election in April this year, ceding control of the unicameral assembly to opposition parties that captured nearly two-thirds of the seats.

It was Trump who wanted to invoke the Insurrection Act on J6, thus enabling him to declare Martial Law, not President Biden.
This is what Chloe SSzang claims Biden would do, but ironically is exactly what she wanted Trump to do. The very idea of Martial Law being declared in the US (only if imposed by the Republican party of course) gets his little pin dick hard as a rock.

Wow! This has all happened so quickly I have had no time to become an expert. What the heck?????

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said on Wednesday he would lift a martial law declaration he had imposed just hours before, backing down in a stunning standoff with parliament which rejected his attempt to ban political activity and censor the media. Yoon declared martial law on Tuesday night to thwart 'anti-state forces' among his opponents, but outraged lawmakers rejected the decree, in South Korea's biggest political crisis in decades.

This is the sort of move I would have expected Biden and the Democrats to try on, not South Korea.

I would not have someone of your background and writing skills misspell Trump so egregiously. You must have had your fingers on the wrong keys while researching Ukraine stuff and typed it as–Biden. That wouldn't set so well with the orange dictator-wannabe. And he isn't a Democrat, either. Lordy, you're still on victory overload and celebratory laughter mode.

Small minds ignore all the big, scary-looking words wrapped around a type-o.

The antithesis of an optimist and a silver lining...

Come on fella... I know you got a cogent thought in there somewhere. Just spit it out in plain MAGA English. :giggle: :coffee: ✍️

Is that how the Korean "deplorable garbage" translated?
Well, yeah, kindasorta.

On 3 December 2024, at 22:27 Korea Standard Time (KST), Yoon Suk Yeol, the president of South Korea, declared martial law during a televised address. In his declaration, he accused the Democratic Party, which has a majority in the National Assembly, of conducting "anti-state activities" and collaborating with "North Korean communists" to destroy the country, thereby creating a "legislative dictatorship." The order included the prohibition of any political activities, including the gatherings of the National Assembly and local legislatures, and a suspension of freedom of the press.

More guns were fired during the failed insurrection in the US than on the defeat of an insurrection in S Korea.
