During the 1950's the crime rate was lower. The rates of illegitimacy and divorce were also lower. Children raised to adulthood by both biological parents living together in matrimony usually have many fewer problems in life.

Also, the increase in media attention and constant news access also gives the perception of increased crimes. The Brennan Center Justice, using the National Crime Victimization Survey, shows violent crime has actually been on a decrease the last 50 years.

Regarding murder, 1950 averaged 5.1 homicides per 100k with 2021 averaging 5.0 homicides per 100k (FBI’s UCR). So that would mean there’s been a decrease since your alleged golden era.

His chart is also like comparing apples and broccoli. Sure, you look at 1960 and compare the crime rate to 2019 and the number is higher. But then you look at the population from 1960 to 2019 and that number has grown also.

Statistics are available for 2020 and 2021, but not at crimedisaster.com, where he got his information. In fact, their main page only went to 2013 for statical to information, but then there’s a note they “recently updated their crime reports” all the way to 2019. I can only guess - based on the appearance and lack of editing - the site is run by a private person or persons. I imagine 2020 and 2021 will get updated when time permits for them, and not some grand elaborate cover up.
