I have done a bit of reading about this for a FWB. It's on the very edge of what I think is safe. (I might indulge him in his fantasy, but I sure as hell would not let someone sound me)
I can't think of anything I would use that have in my house or could easily buy. Whatever you use would need to be:

Sturdy-don't want it breaking inside you.
Smooth, blunt, and rounded-no scratches
Nonporous- infection is a concern don't use a wooden stick that can't be sterilized.

Maybe look at getting a single sound (Small is better) instead of an entire kit , or a urethral plug. Stainless steel, and inspect before use that there are no irregularities or burrs.

Get sterile lubricant. Maybe at a medical supply store.
