sound cards

i am need of buying a soundcard for my pc

this is essential as i am getting copys of Q-Base and cool edit pro.

i am not familiar with sound cards.

does anyone out there recommend anything bearing in mind it is for music based packages

i havent got a large budget but will pay if needs be

Wiz,

Sound Blaster Live is probably still the top sound card on the market. It has 128 bit sound and sounds real good as long as the speakers ar good.

You can't go wrong w/ Sound Blaster. Its not the most expensive and not the cheapest but over all its the best sound card in my opinion. Unless you want to pay out the arse for a custom built one.

looked it up and it sounds impressive. couldnt find a price tho. it looks dear tho
 
In the US it's around $100 don't know what that translates to in British Pounds though. And that is if you stick with the basic soundcard Creative Labs(Soundblaster) Has put together a couple of different packages around that one card and the cost ranges fro $100 to $200.
