Sorting/Ignoring Threads?

Abuse? Yes, I get some from the usual suspects.

But sensible discussions? They happen, but normally about politics. Politics (and religion) tend to attract people with fixed viewpoints who see a different version as anathema or blasphemy. Rational debate becomes impossible.

Maybe I'm too German to think like that. I had a lot of very interesting discussions with people who couldn't convince me, but were able to make points I never seen or thought before. To me, that's what makes discussions interesting. Whoever thinks that discussions are about collecting points, winning and convincing the opponent is in a wrong sport and will end only with more hate in mind.

Grampa Kiddiefucker stands tall as an example to us all.
:nods:

That's a good example of what I mean.

But ask a sensible question, particularly about a subject on which you are ignorant, and Literotica will produce people who are expert and offer their advice freely.

What I should have typed was:

"They happen, but NOT normally about politics."

There is also a serious disconnect between European and US usage for various terms, 'socialist' being the most obvious.

What a US poster means by 'socialist' is nothing like the 'socialist' parties or policies understood in Europe.

The meaning of 'communist', post McCarthy in the US, is very different from the 'communist' political parties in Europe. Confusingly, 'communist' in the UK is about halfway between the two usages.

If there is a thread about Obama and it is started by certain persons, including me, it's almost certain to be critical. If it is started by certain other persons, it is almost certain to be complimentary, possibly even worshipful.

What's wrong with criticizing the president anyhow? As far as I'm concerned, it's part of being an American.

See post #40.
