Last night some friends and I went out to a couple of bars, and had some drinks. I ordered my typical drink of choice, a midori (sp??) sour, and my friends ordered their usuals... margaritas, Long Island iced teas, etc. I was listening casually, knowing what everyone was going to order, and realized that I'm so sick and tired of the same old drinks!
So, I looked around to see if anyone was drinking anything interesting, and to my dismay, saw that everyone was either drinking beer or the usual mixed drinks.

Does anyone know of any other good drinks??
and... to make it interesting, what is your favorite drink?

My late grandmother, a wise woman, told me that if I must drink, for God's sake drink it straight. There's less hell to pay.

My drink of choice is a Cuervo Especial margarita, on the rocks.

My drink in a time of crisis is Laphraoigh, neat.

My drink on a hot crummy day is Sam Adams.

For pure refreshing power - Vodka Collins

With a great cigar- Glenfiddich Single malt

When its cold out- Errol Flynn (Remy Martin & Grand Marnier)

When its hot and ya' wanna get slammed- Killer Kool Aid (Vodka,Midori,Ameretto Cranberry Juice, loaded with booze and it tastes EXACTLY like its namesake)

When only a beer will do- Keiths India Pale Ale, Sam Adams Summer Ale, Moosehead Green Label (the're a client...so i'm biased)

As usual, Creamy has the right idea.

Scotch: preferably Pinch (I just love that bottle!)

Beer: Dos Equis (full bodied, but smooth)

Wine: Any Zinfandel (all right, so I'm a fruity kind of guy - what of it?)

Okay, okay. On some occasions I will admit to having a HiBall (Bourbon and Ginger) and from my parents, I inherited an absurd taste for Manhattans.

To each teir own Tiggs ... but jesus the sugar in all that would send someone into a diabetic coma.

Gaucho brought up wine. A really nice one that I have been drinking lately is Santa Carolina Sauvignon Blanc (Chile) specifacly the '96. Fantastic citrus notes and great on a warm evening.

Why is drinking a lot of Irish Coffee's counterproductive?
Your just getting all liqoured up with no hope of passing out. Stifle the groans please.

Here are a couple I enjoy
1) creamsicle
2) solw gin and 7 up
3) amaredo sours
4) daquris of course
5) cranberry juice and vodka

hope this helps a little

Just got a new recipie for one called an "Alaskan Thunder Fuck". Kinda reminds me of a Long Island Iced tea...but woth more fruit juice.

Myself, if I am going to drink, I prefer soemthing a little more simple. I either want a Corona with plenty of lime, or a nice smooth glass of wine. Simple drinks for simple minds :)

I don't drink. Drinking is eeeeeeeeeevil.. At least if you're underage and 100% Irish. I once drank half a bottle of vodka like it was water and didn't even get a buzz.. My friends sniffed the bottle and drank some themselves because they were convinced it was water.

ANYway. When I -am- eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil..

Straight up: Bourbon.

In the summer: Orange blossoms.. Stick vodka and orange sherbet in the blender. Yummy.

Winter: A tom and jerry can really hit the spot.

Yup and I love it,lol.

I also reminded me of the old joke that I have to tell.

A man walks into the Docs, he says " Doc after an all night session of drinking the next day my farts sound like a car horn. can you tell me whats wrong?"

The Doc asks the man what he drinks.

"Absinthe" the man said.

"Aaaaaaaagh well that would explain it, and does it sound like a domestic or foreign car" the doc asks

"Foreign" the man says "maybe Japanese"."Please Doc can you tell me whats wrong?"

"Sure no problem" the Doc says " Its what you drink that's doing it."

"Why "asks the man.

"Well Absinthe makes the farts groan HONDA"

EZ

When I do drink, which isn't often, I like good old fashioned beer, Guiness being my fave, and I also like Mudslides. I know they're supposed to be a "weak" drink, but the last one I had nearly disolved the lining of my mouth. DAYAM!! That was one good drink!!

I am kind of partial to midori sours myself but I had this drink once similar to a long island ice tea called the red death, I'm not really sure what all was in it but I know it has vodka, triple sec, rum, tequila, and some other alcohols I couldn't think of because by the time I finished, I was pretty sloshed.

A good drink to try is Sheridan's (sp??) on ice, a friend of mine got me hooked on it last year. But when I'm in the bar I usually drink paralizer's.

Well let's see.
I usually prefer a good beer. Tuborg Claasic (danish beer)

But when I do go for something of a more stronger it's usually this:

Scotch on the rocks.
Captain Morgans Spiced Rum.
Icebear (Vodka, sprite, blue bols)
Lumumba (Chocolate milk, Congac)
Screwdriver

I've tried about a million different drinks. But I have to say that these are my favorites.

Red wine - velvety, heavy, lazily clinging to the walls of the glass like oil, reminding me of the livegiving blood pulsing through my veins, the forests and earthy smells that are imbedded in the oak barells and transmitted to the wine built as "barrique", the stories that are told by each ruby drop moistening my lips - myths and legends of the South African shores, the depth of the Chilenian and Argentinian blossoming and blooming rain forest, the fruity tones produced by the Californian sun, the severe and tradition lead wines of Italy and Spain, telling of battles won and loves lost, the softly rolling wine hills of France inpiering the light mood of the great painters ... ohh sorry, got a little carried away here I guess, but seduced with an excelent red wine I am just melting .

White wine mostly in summer (even more picky with those than with the reds actually), when wanting something light and vivd to go with sea food or a delicate pasta dish or as a starter.

If not availible any of the above - or if in a frivolous mood my No.1 choice for summer is a Caipirhina (limette-slices and brown sugar crushed and stirred, glass filled with crushed ice and then poured on top an abundant amount of Chacaca, spirit made from sugar cane I have been told (my fav brand being Pitu).

Then almost everything with Tequilla - I love Margharitas and wouldn't say no if offered a "Latin Lover" either :D

For shots - Jose Cuervo 1800
ant to stay European a good dark italian Grappa (oak barelled!!) or a old and settled brandy or Cognac.

Whisky is very much depending on my mood - may have a phase and then not touch for months again...

A little side note on beer:
I am not really too crazy about beer in general, but being the traditional bavarian girl I am I have to say that there is nothing as refreshing as a "Weissbier" or "Weizen" on a hot summer day, lately mutilated by tourists by adding Coke to it. *g* for further information on the bravarian tradtion of brewing (and drinking) contact your friendly neighbourhood bavarian Dirndl ;)

Call me silly , but ...

I figured the above post was just perfect to have a toast on my 300st (which is going to be this one) - so cheers*s*

What better place to become really really experienced but a thread filled with the pleasant talking about booze and good times out?

Hmm Hecate, I thought you had been really really experienced all the time, because you sure have left that impression on me! ;) And congrats to your 300th post, we'll have to celebrate it with a bottle of champagne sometime!

Well let me get to the topic of this thread. I have a simple taste when it come to drinks. So I prefer:

Rum and Coke, actually what I drink the most

Gin and Lemon, preferably Sunkist Lemon, because you can mix them very strong without tasting the gin to much

A nice cold beer is really good from time to time, especially when it's hot.

I like A good red wine too, just as long as it's not very dry.

Ohh yes, and Champagne too, I have acces to an excellent brand that's Red, uhmmmm so good!

Sour Apple??? Ewwwww. lol Watermelon and Cherry Pucker are the best! ;)

Scotch: Glenmorangie or Famous Grouse

Beer: Iron Horse, Guiness or Blackened Voodoo

Wine: A dry Reisling, or maybe a nice port with a good body to it, LOL

Bourbon: Ick!

Rum: 151 straight up w/Bud Light back

Honestly ossifer, I'm not as think as you drunk I am.

151 Proof Rum? OMG! That reminds me of a night many years ago spent in Tijuana drinking Zombies, which, if I remembered anything about it at all, I'd be happy to share it with you, but since I don't....:)

Excellent!! We're (friends and I) are throwing a huge party tonight (200+ people) for our other friend's bday... and these are great ideas! Gonna try the Killer Kool-Aid and Orange Blossoms, and of course a couple kegs... Corona, most likely. Leave the choice up to me, though... Guinness, every time!

Tiggs... you are my kind of girl!
My faves match your's... exactly! Just add Parrot Bay and Sprite to the list, and we could be "twins" :)... yummy!

Skitten.. what is a creamsicle?
