Everybody has a song that changed their life at least a little. What is yours and why if you would like to share.

Today, I just a heard a song from so long ago. I had forgot about it. The feelings all flooded back after hearing again.

Tesla - What You Give.

"....It's not whatcha got, it's a-what you give.
It ain't the life you choose, it's the life you live....."

Such good advice

I don't have a song that changed my life. I have had a bunch of songs that suited what I was going through for a couple of months.

That is a good point.

And some songs just give that advice to understanding yourself better and insight to making a difference.

I threw their asses out of Kemper Arena...

The first time I heard the Doors, Light my Fire on the AM radio.

I never thought of music in the same way ever again.

So yeah, it changed my life and my outlook.

Somehow I think that's all most songs were ever intended to do. ;)

Yes they are, but in certain circumstances anything can be a catalyst, including a song. Epiphanies come at odd times and for odd reasons. Sir Issac Newton and the apple and Archimedes and the bath tub, true or not, are two of the most famous examples. Those were scientific in nature. Personal ones of self discovery are just as astounding, but much more private. For me Jim Croce's song crystallized and solidified a feeling of self acceptance. My early time in the world was colored by experiences that were slanted to make me feel that I was of no consequence. When something comes along and pushes the door open, when you finally stand up and say, "Fuck a bunch of assholes and what they think, I am who I am", it's a whole new ballgame.

"...And I carry it with me and I sing it loud
If it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud..."

"...And I'm gonna go there free..."

Wow. That sounds like an interesting story.

I don't know if they changed my life but these two definitely speak to me

A friend once told me, after a night of binge drinking that "Something to say" by Toad the Wet Sprocket was me in a nutshell,...I listened and had to agree and its become one of my favorite songs.

And "if it all falls down" by Jimmy Buffet will be played at my funeral.

I know this probably wasn't what the op meant but..

Songs out of clay by Al Stewart.
That song opened me to another world outside prog rock, to a community I have been part of for decades, friends, lovers, adventures. I convert the other people in my life to it too, even Byron :rose:
