The Song Title and Artist

Rocky Mountain High.......John Denver

He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin' home to a place he'd never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door

When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hangin' by a song
But the string's already broken and he doesn't really care
It keeps changin' fast and it don't last for long

But the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky mountain high

He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory

Now he walks in quiet solitude the forest and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high

Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky mountain high

It's Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high
Rocky mountain high

Bridge Over Troubled Water
Simon and Garfunkel

When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all (all)
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you (ooh)
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Monster Mash
Bobby "Boris" Pickett and The Crypt-Kickers

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "The Crypt-Kicker Five"

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash

Out from his coffin, Drac's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, "Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?"

It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash
The monster mash
And it's a graveyard smash
It's now the mash
It's caught on in a flash
It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash

Now everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash
The monster mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash

American Pie
Don McLean

A long long time ago
I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they´d be happy for a while
But February made me shiver
With every paper I´d deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn´t take one more step
I can´t remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
**The day the music died**
So...

(Chorus)
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin´ this´ll be the day that I die
This´ll be the day that I die

Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now do you believe in rock and roll?
Can music save your mortal soul?
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Well, I know that you´re in love with him
´cause I saw you dancin´ in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues
I was a lonely teenage broncin´ buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died
I started singin´

(Chorus)
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin´ this´ll be the day that I die
This´ll be the day that I die

Now, for ten years we´ve been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rolling stone
But, that´s not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me
Oh nd while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lennon read a book on Marx
The quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died
We were singin´

(Chorus)
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin´ this´ll be the day that I die
This´ll be the day that I die

Helter skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
Landed flat on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast
Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
´cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?
We started singin´

(Chorus)
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin´ this´ll be the day that I die
This´ll be the day that I die

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
´cause fire is the devil´s only friend
And as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan´s spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
He was singin´

(Chorus)
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin´ this´ll be the day that I die
This´ll be the day that I die

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I´d heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn´t play
And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most-
the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost-
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died
And they were singing

(Chorus)
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin´ this´ll be the day that I die
This´ll be the day that I die

(Chorus)
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin´ this´ll be the day that I die
This´ll be the day that I die

Ride Captain Ride
The Blues Image

Seventy-three men sailed up
From the San Francisco Bay,
Rolled off of their ship
And here's what they had to say.
"We're callin' everyone to ride along
To another shore,
We can laugh our lives away
and be free once more."
But no one heard them callin',
No one came at all,
'Cause they were too busy watchin'
Those old raindrops fall.
As a storm was blowin'
Out on the peaceful sea,
Seventy-three men sailed off
To history.
Ride, captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
Be amazed at the friends
You have here on your trip.
Ride captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
On your way to a world
That others might have missed.
(Instrumental)
Seventy-three men sailed up
From the San Francisco Bay,
Got off their ship
And here's what they had to say.
"We're callin' everyone to ride along
To another shore,
We can laugh our lives away
And be free once more."
Ride, captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
Be amazed at the friends
You have here on your trip.
Ride, captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
On your way to a world
That others might have missed.
Ride, captain ride
Upon your mystery ship,
Be amazed at the friends
You have here on your trip.

25 Or 6 to 4
Chicago

Waiting for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Dancing lights against the sky
Giving up I close my eyes
Sitting cross-legged on the floor
25 or 6 to 4

Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take
Should have tried to do some more
25 or 6 to 4

Feeling like I ought to sleep
Spinning room is sinking deep
Searching for something to say
Waiting for the break of day
25 or 6 to 4
25 or 6 to 4

How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
The Bee Gees

I can think of younger days when living for my life
Was everything a man could want to do
I could never see tomorrow, but I was never told about the sorrow

And how can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
How can you mend a this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again

I can still feel the breeze that rustles through the trees
And misty memories of days gone by
We could never see tomorrow, no one said a word about the sorrow

And how can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
How can you mend this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again

Imagine
John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

Chick-A-Boom
Daddy Dewdrop

Last night I had a crazy dream
About a chick in a black bikini
Oh she looked so good she couldn't be real
So she must be a magic genie
But then she disappeared around a corner
All I saw were three doors and the top of her bikini
I made it through the first door there was a party going on
I asked about the chick but what they said was this

Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom-boom-boom

I found the bottom half
Behind the second door
Which took me to Africa I presume
This really far out cat was screaming half crazy
"Bomp boom a loo bom a long bam boo"
I said hey man cut that jive
And tell me where the chick went
But he looked at me as pleased as could be
And said a lotta words but I wonder what he meant

Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom-boom-boom

Ah don't ya jes' love it
Ooh don't ya jes' love it
Don't ya love it don't ya love it
Oh yeah don't ya love jes' it
Don't ya jes' love it now

I opened the third door and there she was
And She whispered so sexy oh ooh
I tried to do the same and impress her with my style
But why this chick would never know

Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom-boom-boom

Don't ya know it

Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom don't ya jes' love it
Chick-a-boom chick-a-boom-boom-boom

It Don't Come Easy
Ringo Starr

It don't come easy
You know it don't come easy
It don't come easy
You know it don't come easy

Got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues
And you know it don't come easy
You don't have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy
Forget about the past and all your sorrow
The future won't last
It will soon by your tomorrow

I don't ask for much
I only want trust
And you know it don't come easy
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time
And you know it just ain't easy
Open up your heart
Let's come together
Use a little luck
And we will make it work out better

Got to pay your dues if you want to sing the blues
And you know it don't come easy
You don't have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy
Please remember peace is how we make it
Here within your reach
If you're big enough to take it

I don't ask for much
I only want trust
And you know it don't come easy
And this love of mine keeps growing all the time
And you know it don't come easy

Listen To the Music
The Doobie Brothers

Don't you feel it growin', day by day
People gettin' ready for the news
Some are happy, some are sa-a-a-ad
Woah, gotta let the music play.

What the people need is a way to make them smile
Ain't so hard to do if you know how
Gotta get a message, get it on throu-ou-ou-ough
Oh now momma gonna let the music play

Oh, oh, oh listen to the music,
(ditto a couple of times more)
all the time.

Well, when i know you know baby, everything I say,
meet me in the country for a day.
We'll be happy and we will dance.
Oh, we're gonna dance our blues away.

And if I'm feelin' good to you and you`re feelin' good to me
there ain't nothin' we can't do or say.
Feelin' good, feeling fine.
Oh, baby, let the music play.

Like a lazy flowing river
surrounding castles in the sky.
And the crowd is growing bigger,
list'nin' for the happy sounds,
and I got to let them fly.

Oh, oh, oh listen to the music,
(ditto a couple of times more)
all the time.

Morning Has Broken
Cat Stevens

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

Some great songs, DreamWeaver!

Brings back so many memories of high school! ;)

We're An American Band
Grand Funk Railroad

Out on the road for forty days
Last night in Little Rock, put me in a haze
Sweet, sweet Connie, doin' her act
She had the whole show and that's a natural fact

Up all night with Freddie King
I got to tell you, poker's his thing
Booze and ladies, keep me right
As long as we can make it to the show tonight

We're an American Band
We're an American Band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American Band

Four young chiquitas in Omaha
Waitin' for the band to return from the show
A feelin' good, feelin' right and it's Saturday night
The hotel detective, he was outta sight

Now these fine ladies, they had a plan
They was out to meet the boys in the band
They said, "come on dudes, let's get it on"
And we proceeded to tear that hotel down

We're an American Band
We're an American Band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American Band

We're an American Band
We're an American Band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American Band

We're an American Band
We're an American Band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American Band

We're an American Band
We're an American Band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American Band

We're an American Band, wooo
We're an American Band, wooo
We're an American Band, wooo

Live and Let Die
Paul McCartney

When you were young and your heart was an open book,
You used to say live and let live
You know you did, you know you did, you know you did
But if this ever-changing world in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry,
Say live and let die!
Live and let die,
Live and let die,
Live and let die.

What does it matter to ya,
When you've got a job to do you gotta do it well,
You gotta give the other fellow hell!

You used to say live and let live.
(You know you did, you know you did, you know you did)
But if this ever-changing world in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry,
Say live and let die!
Live and let die,
Live and let die,
Live and let die.

Grand Funk was great... How about some Moody Blues?

THE STORY IN YOUR EYES
Moody Blues

I've been thinking about our fortune
And I've decided that we're really not to blame
For the love that's deep inside us now
Is still the same.
And the sound we make together
Is the music to the story in your eyes
It's been shining down upon me now
I realise.

Listen to the tide slowly turning,
Wash all our heartaches away.
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build for another day

But I'm frightened for your children
And the life that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain.

When the final line is over
And it's certain that the curtain's gonna fall
I can hide inside your sweet innocent love
For evermore

Listen to the tide slowly turning,
Wash all our heartaches away.
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build for another day

But I'm frightened for your children
And the life that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain.

Free Ride
Edgar Winter Group

The mountain is high, the valley is low
And you're confused 'bout which to go
So I flew in to give you a hand
And lead you into, the promised land

Come on and take a free ride, free ride
Come on and take it by my side
Come on and take a free ride

All over the country, I'm seeing the same
Nobody's winning, at this type of game
We gotta do better, it's time to begin
You know all the answers
Must come from within.

Come on and take a free ride, free ride
Come on and take it by my side
Come on and take a free ride

Come on and take a free ride, free ride
Come on and take it by my side
Come on and take a free ride

Come on and take a free ride yea, yea, yea, yea......

Space Oddity
David Bowie

Spoken in the backgroun:
Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, Lift-off

Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on

Ground Control to Major Tom
Commencing countdown, engines on
Check ignition and may God’s love be with you

This is Ground Control to Major Tom
You’ve really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it’s time to leave the capsule if you dare

This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I’m stepping through the door
And I’m floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do

Though I’m past one hundred thousand miles
I’m feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much she knows

Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you ....

Here am I floating round my tin can
Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do?

Streak
Ray Stevens

(Words and Music by Ray Steven)

[sound of wire-service telegraphy]

SPOKEN: Hello, ev'ryone, This is your Action News reporter
with all the news that is news across the nation on the scene
at the supermarket. There seems to have been some disturbance here.
Pardon me, sir, did you see what happened?

SPOKEN: Yeah, I did. I's standin' over there by the tomaters
and here he comes-runnin' through the pole beans, through
the fruits ''n' vegetables, nekked as a jaybird.
'n' I hollered over t'Ethel,
I said "DON'T LOOK, ETHEL!!" 'n' it's too late-
she'd already been INcensed.

(Here he comes)
Looka dat, looka dat
(There he goes)
Looka dat, looka dat
(And he ain't wearin' no clothes)

Whoa, yes they call him The Streak ["zipppp" kazoo sound]
(Looka dat, looka dat)
Fastest thing on two feet
Looka dat, looka dat
He's just as proud as he can be of his anatomy
He gun give us a peek
Oh, yes they call him The Streak ["zipppp" kazoo sound]
(Looka dat, looka dat)
He likes to show off his physique
(Looka dat, looka dat)
If there's an audience to be found
He'll be streakin' A-round invitin' public critique ["zipppp" kazoo sound]

SPOKEN: This is your Action News reporter once again
and we're here at the gas station.
Pardon me, sir, did you see what happened?

SPOKEN: Yeah, I did. I's just in here gettin' my tawres checked
'n' he just appeared outta the back. Come streakin' around
the grease rack there-didn't have nuthin on but a smile!!
I looked at her and Ethel was gettin' 'er a cold drink. I
hollered "DON'T LOOK, ETHEL!!" But it's too late-she'd
already been MOONED!! Flashed her right there in front of the shock absorbers!!

(He ain't crude)
(Looka dat, looka dat)
(He ain't rude)
(Looka dat, looka dat)
(He's just in the mood to run in the nude)

Whoa, yes they call him The Streak ["zipppp" kazoo sound]
(Looka dat, looka dat)
He likes to turn other cheek
(Looka dat, looka dat)
He's always makin' the news wearin' just his tennis shoes
Guess you could call him unique ["zipppp" kazoo sound]

[sound of wire-service telegraphy]

SPOKEN: Once again, your Action News reporter in the booth
at the gym covering the disturbance at the basketball playoff.
Pardon me, sir, did you see what happened?

SPOKEN: Yeah, I did. Halftime, I's just goin' down there
to get Ethel a snow cone. Here he come, right outta the cheap seats, dribblin'.
Right down the middle of the floor.
Didn't have on nothin' but his Keds!
Made a hook shot and got out through the concession stand.
I hollered up at Ethel, I said "DON'T LOOK, ETHEL!!"..
Too late. She'd already gotten a free shot. Grandstand.
Right there in front of the home team.

Whoa, yes they call him The Streak ["zipppp" kazoo sound]

CLOSING: Not totally decipherable because 3 things are going on at once.
Ray is singing a verse and the backup singers are doing (Looka dat, looka dat)
while Ray, on an overlaid track is speaking [Fastest thing on two feet]
"Ethel! Is that you Ethel? [He's just as proud as he can be]
What do [of his anatomy] you think you're doin? [He gonna give us a peek]
You get your clothes on !!" Whoa, yes they call him The Streak ["zipppp" kazoo sound]
"Ethel, where you goin'? [He likes to show off his physique] Ethel, you
shameless hussy!!" [If there's an audience to be found, he'll be streakin' A-round
invitin' public critique] Say it isn't SO, Ethel!!

Darnit, the lyrics aren't online for this one...

Boogie!
Come on and rock that boogie!
Boogie!
Come on and rock that boogie!
Rock that boogie 'till the break of day...
Let the man come and take me away!

Spiders and Snakes
Jim Stafford

I remember when Mary Lou said
'You wanna walk me home from school'
And I said, 'Yes, I do'
She said, 'I don't have to go right home
And I'm the kind that likes to be alone
As long as you would'
I said, 'Me, too'

And so we took a stroll
Wound up down by the swimmin' hole
And she said, 'Do what you want to do'
I got silly and I found a frog
In the water by a hollow log
And I shook it at her
And I said 'This frog's for you'
She said...

'I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
You fool, you fool
I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I want to be loved by you'

Well, I think of that girl from time to time
I call her up when I got a dime
I say, "Hello, baby'
She says, 'Ain't you cool'
I say, 'Do you remember when?
And would you like to get together again?'
She says, 'I'll see you after school'

I was shy and so for a while
Most of my love was touch and smile
Til she said, 'Come on over here'
I was nervous as you might guess
Still looking for somethin' to slip down her dress
And she said, 'Let's make it perfectly clear'
She said...

'I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
You fool, you fool
I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I want to be loved by you'

that's a sex machine to all the chicks?
(Shaft!)
You're damn right
Who is the man
that would risk his neck for his brother man?
(Shaft!)
Can ya dig it?
Who's the cat that won't cop out
when there's danger all about
(Shaft!)
Right on
You see this cat Shaft is a bad mother--
(Shut your mouth)
But I'm talkin' about Shaft
(Then we can dig it)
He's a complicated man
but no one understands him but his woman
(John Shaft)

I actually did a 2 baton routine to this!

Wildwood Weed
Jim Stafford

The wildwood flower grew wild on the farm,
And we never knowed what it was called.
Some said it was a flower and some said it was weed,
I never gave it much thought ......
One day I was out there talking to my brother,
Reached down for a weed to chew on,
Things got fuzzy and things got blurry,
And then everything was gone!
Didn't know what happened,
But I knew it beat the hell out of sniffin' burlap.

I come to and my brother was there,
And he said, What's wrong with your eyes?
I said, I don't know, I was chewing on a weed.
He said, Let me give it a try.
We spent the rest of that day and most of that night,
Trying to find my brother, Bill.
Caught up with him, 'bout six o'clock the next morning,
Naked, swinging on the wind mill!
He said he flew up there.
I had to fly up there and bring him down,
He was about half crazy .....

The very next day we picked a bunch of them weeds,
And put 'em in the sun to dry.
Then we mashed 'em up and chopped 'em up,
And put 'em in the corncob pipe.
Smokin' that wildwood flower got to be a habit,
We didn't see no harm.
We thought it was kind of handy,
Take a trip and never leave the farm!

All good things gotta come to an end,
And it's the same with the wildwood weed.
One day this feller from Washington came by,
And he spied it and turned white as a sheet.
Then they dug and they burned,
And they burned and they dug,
And they killed all our cute little weeds.
Then they drove away,
We just smiled and waved ..........
Sittin' there on that sack of seeds!

Y'all come back now, hear?

Artist : Ray Stevens
Song : Gitarzan

He's free as the breeze,
He's always at ease.
He lives in the jungle
And hangs by his knees,
As he swings through trees
Without a trapeeze,
In his BVD's.
A-hoo hoo!

He's got a union card
And he's practicin' hard
To play the gitar.
Gon' be a big star,
Yeah he's gonna go far.
An' carry moonbeams home in a jar!

He ordered Chet's guitar course COD,
Makes A&E an' he's workin' on B.
Digs C&W&R&B an' an' me an' a chimpanzee
Agree that one day soon he'll be,
A celebrity.
Get it!
Get it!
Get it!
Get it!
OWWWWWWWWW!

Gitarzan!
He's a gitar man!
He's all you can stand,
Give him a hand,
Gitarzan!

(Tarzan yell)
(Coughing)

He's gotta girl named Jane,
With no last name.
Kinda homely and plain,
But he loves her just the same.
'Cause she kindles a flame,
And it drives him insane,
When he hears her sing.
She really does her thing.
It's here claim to fame,
Come on, sing one Jane:

Baby, baby, Whaooooo Baby!
(Scatting)
Whaooooo Baby!

How 'bout that,
Lets here it for Jane!

Thank ya' folks.

Well, they gotta pet monkey,
He likes to get drunky,
And sing boogie woogie,
And it sounds real funky,
Come on, yo' time, boy,
Sing one monkey,
Here we go,

(Monkey grunts)

Lets here it for the monkey!
Whooooo!
(He He He He)

On Saturday night they need some excitement,
Jane gets right and the monkey gets tight,
And their voices unite, in the pale moon light,
And it sounds alright, yeah, it's dynamite,
It's outta sight.
Let's hear it, right nnnnnnnnow!

(Gitarzan, Jane, and monkery all together)

Jane:
Shut up baby, I'm tryin' to sing!

Get it!
Get it!
Get it!
Get it!
Owwwwwww!

Gitarzan!
And his jungle band!
They're all you can stand,
Give 'em a hand, Gitarzan!
(repeats once while fading)
