Son replaces hubby in mother's affections

I've decided to have a go at more Dad-daughter storylines as I've neglected this incest theme for years. As a parting shot on Mum-son, I'm interested to know whether anyone can add an idea or two to the following set-up. I've already written it out as a full short story but here's the basic background outline.

1. A disfunctional marriage... hubby increasingly neglecting wife. She realises that he (university don) has the pick of his more intellectual (than her) female colleagues and has probably taken a mistress.
2. Their sole child, teenage son, failing badly at school. Being picked on by cliquey classmates and having no luck with girls. Something of a loner. Begins to hate even the idea of going to school.
3. Mum is fiercely protective of son. She is a more earthy type than hubby and has always worshipped the "male". As a girl was something of a tomboy and can't understand modern teenage girls' obsession with frilly fashions and boy bands.
4. Things come to a head when the school writes to complain of son's performance and lack of interest in school matters. Mum is indignant and more so at hubby's apparent lack of concern.
5. Mum resolves to stop her son from attending the school, at the same time telling hubby to get out and not come back. She makes son his favourite meal, gives him the good news about not having to go back to school, and says they'll be happy at home together for the weekend. The world can 'go away'.
6. The consummation happens in the shower! They spend that weekend as a new husband and wife combo.

I've added some other detail which builds up the sexual dynamic - prior to all the above, she has recently seen son lying naked on his bed on a warm night - has crept in and can't stop herself from examining his member close up... touching it gently. Son has heard Mum and Dad making love late at night the very last time it happened, months back. He has heard all the noises from behind their closed bedroom door...

Basically, this is a piece where the action is led by the mother. She and son are thrown together to a certain extent by circumstances, so she cannot be called actively predatorial... but that's the way it kind of works out.

I love the idea of the Dad/Hubby realizing that he is just not in love with his wife anymore, but still loves her and their son. He does not wish to harm her, take away the house, divorce her, or any of that. But he does wish to "move on". Strangely, he loves her enough that he also doesn't like the idea of a stranger sleeping with her.

He himself ends up realizing his son is a stud, and would much prefer his wife gets her emotional, sexual, and romantic needs met by their own son, and a part of him is turned on that the same GORGEOUS woman that he seduced and married and use to rail when he was younger, would get seduced and and railed by their own son.

He ends up having a a heart-to-heart with the wife in which he tells her he'll be moving out and wants to no-string-attached relationships with women going forward, but know that she deserves better. And suggests their son.

Mom then leads the process exactly as you've said and the son ends up replacing the husband as the love of her life. She explains to him after they consummate and begin living their lives that this is all blessed and approved by the Dad, and that it will be permanent and OK and that there's nothing to hide.

Dad ends up giving him tips on how to love, fuck, please, and support the Mom in every aspect of the relationship. When he comes to visit sometimes, he sees Mom and Son acting like husband and wife and is proud of his stud of a son and is glad his wife is being taken care of, including the time that he walks into the house with his son's birthday present and finds them having sex on the couch.

He does not wish to harm her, take away the house, divorce her, or any of that.

There are amicable divorces where both parties leave on good terms. It would make the story less convoluted than a scenario where they move on but are still married.

The husband could still be part of their lives as a friend/father.

That would work with the rest of your story idea and dad could still be there as a sounding board for the son.

That's a good point. Definitely less convoluted.
I think the cuckolding aspect of having the Dad still technically be the Mom's husband was what had me throw that in there but the story would work great without it too.

I'd be more inclined to have dear old dad, who would routinely fuck Mama's brains clean out of her skull, pass away tragically. After a period of time, Mom starts looking for companionship, only to find no one can live up to what her husband could do to her in bed. Until she realizes that there is a man, the spitting image of her late husband already living under her roof. Not terribly original, I'll grant you. But adding some character development, romantic build-up, seduction, the relationship shift, and then finally the joining of bodies, could make this one stand out.

Variation of happy wife happy life. Dad and mom brought son to bed (at a Lit friendly age) and there's been a rollicking threesome happening ever since. Of course dad wanted to spend a bit more time with his buddies golfing, fishing whatever - code words for getting out of town with a couple of young gals and have a boozy orgy weekend. This way the wife stays satisfied while he's away - a win win in his book.

This idea works as well. Maybe Dad's ghost watches quietly from the chair in the corner, and only Mom can see him.

Both of these variations work for this story, imo. I'm actually trying to finish a part II of a published story and the part about hubby(Dad) golfing, fishing, and whoring out of town is part of my story, but not an incest theme.

One of the sharpest 'hooks' in this kind of scenario... especially one where there is no love lost between mother and husband... is to emphasise the son's superiority as a male, at least in her mind. Lay it on thick! Pm'd you with another idea.
