Son has a sexual relationship with father's ex wife

Was just watching a TV show and this thought came into mind.
Ex wife (42) is involved in her ex husbands (46) life since they have a child together. Ex husband's son who's now 18, has a strong attraction towards ex wife and seduces her. They get intimate, but with their history they have to hide it. They often make love.
Maybe ex wife gets pregnant by the son and some trouble ensues.
Any thoughts?

My thought on the idea is the couple divorced on good terms. They still cared about each other but they didn't work as a couple, had different interests and the like.

The son home from college offers to take some of his ex-stepmoms stuff over, and they sit and chat. Perhaps one of the items in the stuff he brought over was a bottle of Irish whiskey that she was saving for a special event, but feeling a little blue wanted to open it then and offered some to the son, who accepts.

They talk and loosen up over the afternoon and the ex confesses that she feels old and worn out. Son tells her she's nuts and is quite attractive and anyone would be lucky to have her. It goes on like that until they end up undressed and rolling around on the floor...

Older women with younger men is where my writing lives and step-mom stories are the best. You can't go wrong with this story idea. Both are completely free to indulge things they'd only fantasized about. They'd been admiring one another for a while and suddenly there's nothing stopping them.

'You ... you really think I'm attractive?" she asks tentatively.

His eyes go wide, surprised that there is even a question on the matter. "You're kidding right? You're frigging gorgeous. I used to have to beat my friends out of the house with a stick." He walks towards her and her eyes get wide.

"What are you doing?" she asks.

He cups a hand behind her neck and pulls her towards him. With their lips just millimeters apart he whispers. "What I've dreamed of doing, for so long." As their lips meet for the first time she sighs and gives into her own yearnings, and wraps her arms around him, pulling him tightly to her.

The warmth between them grows until they can barely stand it. They break the kiss, panting. She turns and pulls him into the bedroom in her new apartment. The bed isn't even assembled yet, the mattress is leaning up against the wall. He flips it down to the floor and emboldened by her excited smile, peels off his shirt.

She bites her bottom lips gently as her hands caress his muscular torso. "Oh, I'm gonna be soooo bad," she whispers.

There's two major variations I think, whether dad's second (ex-)wife had been stepmother to the eldest son or wasn't.

History of first is straightforward.

Dad married mom, son was born, mom went out of the picture (probably died, to keep it simple), son was left in dad's custody. He may not even remember his biological mother much, too young. Dad soon remarried, to our woman of interest. For some time they lived as a family. Boy had great relationship with his stepmother. The dad, eventually not so much... They got a child, but decide to split up. Son may blame dad. He's losing his favorite stepmother and beloved half-sibling. Fortunately, they all keep in contact. Do dad has a third wife? Maybe just a girlfriend/mistress? Perhaps son blame her for blowing up his family?

This is incestuous. The woman, while not his biological mother, is the only mother he knew and loved, and now, that relationship changes, because of artificially imposed distance, he seek to cross by increasing intimacy. Or he may attempt to step in his father's shoes, feel a need to replace him for (step-)mom.

Second variety has more complex history. Son's mom doesn't die, in fact son goes to live with her, at least for some time still. He keeps contact with father, and his new family, but isn't part of it himself. Dad's second wife is never his stepmother, just dad's woman he has to tolerate. However, he apparently approve of dad's taste in women... When dad's second marriage unravels, he allows himself to look at that woman as a woman, and is interested. There can even be competitive moment in it, he can best his father by getting his woman (even if after she's abandoned).

This is hardly incestuous at all. Sure, the previous involvement makes it kinda kinky, but it's probably not even illegal, just mildly inappropriate.

...meanwhile, dad is chasing his nephew's ex-girlfriend...

Or, in another tv show, where the husband has an affair, the wife forgives and takes him back but the woman he had an affair with bares his child, the son. Son comes over often since husband wants to be a good father. Could see where wife and son can have an affair as a mirror to what the husband did to wife. Just throwing ideas.

I think I read somewhere that Michael Shanks' daughter (One of his kids with Lexa Doig) was in a relationship with his ex-wife, the actress who played Sha're on SG-1. I haven't verified that, but this idea reminded me of that.

This could lead to some pretty comical situations. Dad suspects they started while they were still married and so on. Maybe make the ex wife a little closer to son's age, so there's a possibility of the two getting married. How serious is it?

Maybe they first bonded while ripping on the dad.
