Sometimes the voters do the right thing.

He'd have already been gone if he was Republican, but Democrats aren't as picky as to who they elect. Jefferson's callousness during Hurricane Katrina and other ethical lapses were long due to be paid.

Hey you two - they've got a White Sale going on at BB&B. You can prolly pick up some new sheets to wear at a good price!
(Now if Home Depot would just have a sale on new lynching ropes...)

The best hanging rope is a 3/4" manila. Pre-stretch for 24 hours and varnish before using....this will prevent the corpse from bouncing in the air.

Occasionally the voters get it right. For once we won't have a resignation on the way to jail. Yes, I think he will be convicted.

I don't mean because these voters elected Republicans. The integrity, or lack of it, are much more important than the race of a candidate, even an incumbent, or a party label. I know the man is innocent until proven guilty, but the voters seemed to think his guilt has already been proven.

What does racism have to do with this? Crooks are crooks regardless of race. I could have said the same thing about Ted Stevens but this was the article I saw.

That can be true, yes. That's probably why Elizabeth Dole got her clock cleaned when her campaign got desperate and she lost her class with sleazy smear tactics.

Speaking of race, Jefferson was ousted by a Vietnamese man in a predominantly Black voting district. No racism there, unless you think it enabled a Vietnamese Republican to be elected and caused the incumbent's Black constituents not to show up at the polls.

Racisim? Puh...leeze.

I'm on your wavelength SB...my post was in support of your response. This racist label is too easily applied to anything someone disagrees with...which dilutes it when confronting real racisim. ;)

This is my favorite part;
I know the man is innocent until proven guilty, but the voters seemed to think his guilt has already been proven.
This, in connection with your "do the right thing" title makes me pretty sure that you don't know about the innocent until proven guilty rule, or what that means.

Stella, do you know lots of "honest" people that keep $90,000 in the freezer?

Okay, I can understand someone who went through the Great Depression keeping $90K in some odd place, but a Congressman? Fishy is as fishy does, I say.

Uh-oh . . .

Not in an illegal way. Just family stuff I won't get into. But the rest of the family actually thought she'd put that money in the bank and they weren't too excited on finding it next to the fish filets... no, not kidding on that one!

Hey, I had a gramma from the Old Country and I understand perfectly.

Getting a Louisiana politician out of office is always a cause for celebration.

This is what Safe Bet said about my initial post and that by Pornquin.

I took the reference to white sheets to wear and lynchng as an accusation that we act and think as the KKK does, and I disagreed. This is what I said in my second post:

What does racism have to do with this? Crooks are crooks regardless of race. I could have said the same thing about Ted Stevens but this was the article I saw.

Now, would somebody please tell me what I might have said that would show me to be a racist? As far as I can see, this was the voters in LA refusing to vote to reelect a person who they were pretty sure was a crook. the voters in alaska did the same thing.

Neither Stephens nor Jefferson have been convicted finally yet, but the voters in the two states seem to have decided.
