17) Two cars leave the same city at the same time. One travels west at a rate of 40 miles per hour. The other travels east at a rate of 50 miles per hour, and travels one hour longer than the slower car. If they finish 275 miles apart, what is the time of travel of the first car?

WHO THE FUCK CARES????? If you know how fast they're going and how far they went and the fact that it took one hour longer for the moron in the Yugo, then chances are you're going to already know how long they were driving!

Gawd. At least ask me word problems that aren't so unutterably stupid.

Whew. I feel better now.

Just solve the problem, and you'll feel better! :)

~loads a killerbonghit~

LOL

let x equal the time of travel for the slower car

275 = 40x + 50(x+1)

275 = 40x +50x +50

225 = 90x

2.5 = x

:)

i wish math was still this easy.

Jules has a cock that is 75 cm long. Jim's dick is 60 cm long.

Sally's ass can accomodate both with ease.

How long is Sally's dick?

LOL

I need your help in doing formulas on my Excel spread sheets.

God i wish I could do math and spell. just for one day...

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

You're my hero riff. LOL

The only thing worse than a stupid math problem is a stupid person trying to do a stupid math problem. Ugh. At least there's letters in there now.

2 problems for Killermuffin and Algebra haters:

1) A cocksucker goes down on a penis with a velocity of 200m per second and is subjected to a centrifugal force of 2000 newtons. If centrifugal force is proportional to the square velocity, what would be the force on this slut going down on the same cock at 120m per second?

2) The horsepower that can be safely transmitted by a rotating shaft inside of a huge purple dildo at a given speed or rotation varies directly as the cube of the radius of the shaft inside the massive cylinder of latex or cyberskin. Campare the safe load of a shaft with a 2cm radius inside of an anal plug version of the purple dildo with that of the a shafts inside of a double penetration dildo with a 5cm radius rotating at the same speed.

i can't resist

sorry muffin :( i tried to leave it alone. i have no self control.

let z equal the force at 120m/s

2000N / (200m/s * 200m/s) = z / (120m/s * 120m/s)

2000N/(40000m/s) = z/(14400m/s)

2000N(14400m/s) = z(40000N)

28800000 N-m/s = z(40000N)

(28800000 N-m/s)/(40000N) = z

720m/s = z

2) The horsepower that can be safely transmitted by a rotating shaft inside of a huge purple dildo at a given speed of rotation varies directly as the cube of the radius of the shaft inside the massive cylinder of latex or cyberskin. Campare the safe load of a shaft with a 2cm radius inside of an anal plug version of the purple dildo with that of the a shafts inside of a double penetration dildo with a 5cm radius rotating at the same speed.

let h equal the safe load
let h(a) equal the safe load of the anal plug
let h(d) equal the safe load of the double penitration dildo
let r equal the radius of the shaft
let k equal a constant

h=kr^3

h(a) = k(2)^3 = 8k

h(d) = 2k(5)^3 = 250k

h(d) = 31.25h(a)

or, if you get rid of the decimal

h(d) = 125h(a)/4

yeah. i'm lame.

yeah. i'm lame.

Try to hang in there and be brave. There must be new treatments under developement somewhere for your hideous condition.

For you non-math types

Translation: riff is only mediocre in bed.

(Don't feel bad, I figured it out, too. Sort of. I have the nastiest habit of sticking the decimal in the wrong place when I don't use a calculator. That and things like (3)(2)=32. Ugh.)

you mean it's not?

all math is easy. I may not spell well but math... I breath it. :)

math is always easy cause math is a constant, it will always be the same and never change.

I much prefer the dining room table too.

math is hard now. matlab > me :(
i'm trying to program a neural network. it's really hard. i mean, the first one wasn't bad, but a single layer network can't learn the xor function so now we have to make it multilayer and that is just a bitch.

the doctors tell me there's no hope. it's not fatal and i'll live a long, lame life, but i'll never ever be cool. fortunately it's not contageous.

phew.. atleast I'm in good company..

I also suffer from math geekiness..

Algebra is ok :) Nice stuff. Calculus kicked my ass. Then the last day everything clicked really well....

But, I still have the problem of doing math relating to things that do not exist.

I never cared much for algebra ... because I would be on a good streak and then all of a sudden I would come upon a problem and I could never figure it out ... I would go and ask and little did I know I had to apply like a thousand and ones rules ... from chapters 1- 15 ....

I hated that stuff !

*shudder* Matlab... Now you're giving me flashbacks of my days in engineering school :(

Makes me glad I defected to IT.

dlj

yeah matlab is a bitch. there isn't even any real application for it. i wouldn't mind learning a whole new language to program the neural net if i knew i was going to be using it again in the future, but matlab is just useless. :mad:

Actually, that's incorrect. The two cars end up 275 miles apart. The way you've set it up, the total distance traveled will be 275 miles (40*2.5 + 50*3.5 = 275).

It needs to be set up like this:
50(x+1) = 40x + 275
50x + 50 = 40x + 275
10x = 225
x = 22.5

Therefore, the faster car traveled (23.5 * 50 = 1175 miles) and the slower car traveled (22.5 * 40 = 900 miles) and 1175 - 900 = 275.

I should be able to help you with just about any Excel problems... and if I can't, I could find someone who could.
