*Panicking... Have lent best reference book to friend... aargh*...
It IS possible... however, I am 100% confident that it is a Maconnais wine, and therefore a Burgundy. Virtually all Burgundies are single varietal pinot noir. Gamay tends to appear in Rhone blends, and as a single varietal in beaujolais.
However, the problem with French wine is that there are exceptions to every rule, and it would be f("*ing typical if I blundered into one within hours of exposing myself, as it were, to a new audience.
Kendo, I'll look into it. I've a rather pleasing beaujolais close to hand that seems an appropriate prize if you've saved me from a humiliating cock-up.
Sod it. I'm going to bed.
I love you all, kids... this is so much more fun than a typical wine crowd.
