hi,
m a writer myself and i find the comments strange.

the incest taboo stories invite better comments and no one comments on the authors.

on the other hand, swinging, swapping and cuckolding stories are looked down at.

whats the reason

The LW category is inhabited by a unique breed of commenters ( the nicest word I can think of *laugh* )

They're hardly exclusive to there, however. If you look at the interratial or non-con cats, you'll find equally virulent comments in those categories.

There are just far more ( several camps ) in the LW category.

Here's a couple of theories that usually pop up:

Many of the commenters are men who had wives cheat on them, and they're bitter about it. They lash out at anyone who writes a story to tillilate based upon something painful to them.

Same situation as above, but the commenters are shamed because they're turned on by the story.

Some commenters want violent revenge on the cheating wife, and will respond negatively if the wife doesn't end up in a gutter somewhere ( preferably dead or disfigured )

Some enjoy cuckold, and will respond negatively to any revenge story.

Some want reconcilliation, and will respond negatively to either cuckold or revenge.

Some want no cheating at all, and believe that they can "change" the category by responding with venom to any story not meeting their definition of "Loving Wives"

LW is a shark pit that's not for the faint of heart. It's a rush to write something that garners more positive comments than negative in the category, though :D

i agree

i believe that incest is taken as a fantasy rather than reality. on the other hand, adultery is more common and thus looked down at

There is that element as well. A lot of the comments in LW seem to indicate that the commenters have a bit of difficulty distinguishing fantasy from reality, pushing the traits of the characters onto the author as if the story is biographical.

In reality, I'd say there's probably some equality in those three, once the wide regions encompassed by Lit are accounted for.

As far as fantasies not acted upon, taboo probably wins.

ok

i live in pakistan
i think in my region, incest may be more common then we know. as we have quite a closed society, not much outlets available for sex.

The bottom line is: You have to write for yourself. It's impossible to make everybody happy. Absolutely, positively IM-possible. If you try to write because "this won't offend anybody" or "I got a bad comment when I wrote this action before, so I'll leave it out this time" you'll end up with a story that *you* don't like, and it'll be obvious to the reader.

If *you* like what you read, there's a fair bet that there's going to be somebody else out there who'll like it, too. To a certain extent, you have to ignore the feedback you get. Seldom does a negative feedback give you anything constructive to work with. Of course, "Best story I've ever read," is a great ego-stroke, but it's just as little help as "fucking stupid story."

One thing you can do to curtail some of the negative crap, and that's to turn off anonymous feedback. This will keep the anonymous trolls from running in, spouting, "Quit writing, you dumbass shit," then running out. Of course, this will also keep the anonymous folks from putting up the, "phenomenal work, keep it up," too. The thing that *is* true, though, you will get far more positive feedback from people who will sign their names than you will negative.

As for what'll trip a person's trigger, the thing to remember is: There are some folks who sign in to Lit just to purposely offend themselves, then take it out on the writer for having offended them. It's just the way it is.

Just keep writing. Write what you like to read.

Plus, there are some who believe the category is about what the name says, and say something like: "Oh, good. A story about loving couples. :) The first story I posted there, before I knew better, was about two virgins on their wedding night. That was one of the few straight stories I have written that did not include eating pussy. :D

Another thing about incest is that we can't write about the really disgusting kind. By that, I mean a father or some other older relative forcing a young girl to do what he or she wants. The incest/taboo stories that get posted tend to be pretty tame, just two consenting adults who happen to be related. That's not a complaint, by the way, because I don't want to read about the bad ones either.
