So, we've already been--a time or two--around the dance floor concerning religion. But, arguments aside, surely there are positive things we can say about them--instructional things.

Anyone got anything?
 
Religious tenets suggest a standard other than "what looks good to me at the moment." Humans are clever little buggers at the art and sport of justification, and it's always possible to come up with a high-flown-sounding reason why one's own impulses should be indulged. A little resistance encourages deeper analysis of our actions and keeps our moral and ethical wits keen - whetstone to the blade of reason.
