How long should I give the site admin at where they posted them before throwing a shit fit? I have informed the admin of the plagerism and told them where to find my originals. So how long to wait?

That's just of three stories lifted.

Don't wait! PM Laurel. She will have a "word" with the site operator.

Exactly. PM her, not email.

Give her links to everything - your stuff, the site which has stolen it, etc.

It will be taken care of.

:rose:

Just wanted to wish you good luck with getting them removed, and in a timely manner. I don't really have anything to add as to what you should do.

Mack -

Make certain to post a review on each of the chapters - announce that the work belongs to you and that she has stolen it.

(I already did the first chapter.)

:D

I was thinking of giving that site's admin 24 hours to respond and remove them. I'm just a softie like that.

You're not the only one she's stolen from. At least one poet on Lit has been lifted from, too:

This Sexy Lois person who has put her own name to your stories doesn't deserve 24 hours. She knows she's a thief and a liar.

I doubt anything she's "written" there actually belongs to her.

See?

We should post on each one of her listed works (that we can prove) that they've been stolen.

I'm doin that now for mine, since I donno what else she's lifted.

By the way - Sarah - I plagerized your stolen story review post and posted it as my own...

I already did on the poems that I found.

Now THAT is the sincerest form of flattery. :)

Can you tell I've tracked down my own stolen stories before?

Good luck Mack.

Thanks Sarah, that felt oddly good.

Doesn't it?

It's some form of action you can take.

When she checks her messages next time she logs in she'll be a bit concerned that she's been found out.

Good.

:cathappy:

Wow! What a complete nightmare-come-true! With all the stuff out there, I am surprised you caught it - how did you find out? I hope "she" gets the hot oil treatment...or maybe the tar and feathering.

Once every few weeks, I run a google on some keywords from various stories. If I see a link from a site I don't recognize I check into it. Usualy, it's a partner of Lit or SoL, and they just have a link back to the main posting, but this time it was a different site.

In this particular case, the keyword was 'feldare' which is reasonably unique to my fictional setting (though it is also apparently something pottery related).

She changed titles, so you really can't search by titles anymore.

Pick a few sentences in the middle of your story. Get something unique, something with an interesting phrase, a place, something.

Put quotes around it and google search.

That usually shows up all the places where that story resides.

Well, I must be so new to posting that mine does not show up at all. Or else, I am an idiot and not doing it right. That is always a possibility. Anyway, object lesson learned - I'll occationally check for it.

I am indebted to the gosling who has been playing detective on my behalf and discovered one of my stories (Wedding Night - The morning after.) posted on what appears to be a blog page, and two of my poems (Cloudy and How do I want you?), posted by someone called 'Frozen', on the site Darkpoetry.com.

To say I'm annoyed is putting it mildly, I've mailed the site owners of Darkpoetry, and pm-ed Laurel about all three.

The inimitable Sweetsubsarahh is looking into a way of accessing the blog page.

Have a care people, it seems the thieves are getting more and more blatent.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

One of my stories is being used to link to a "stop premature ejaculation" product...how do they do that?

Sounds like they might be using it as a tag . . . that's what a rape fantasy porn site has done with a line from one of my stories. I reported it tonight, as soon as I saw it.

To whom did you report it? To the webiste or Laurel?

Cool - I didn't realize they could go after sites that did that.
