I'm working on a non-con erotic story at the moment –– it's about a woman who's abducted by her ex-husband and has to figure out a way to escape. Right now my idea well is just painfully dry and I'd love to have someone to bounce ideas off of, preferably someone who's genre savvy w/ regards to dark romance. If you have Discord or Telegram, shoot me a reply on here and we can brainstorm together!

I don't have those services, but I don't mind discussing the story with you. Start a Conversation with me (also known as Private Messages) and we'll see what can develop. I also encourage you to view my own request for a Beta Reader if you desire to repay me, though that is not necessary.

Some ideas. The story you are describing generally goes one of three ways-

1. The victim is subjugated and dominated by the abuser, ultimately descending into despair and weakness. If your story is going that way, it's fine for a while, but if it is ultimately concluding that way, I warn you now, I will not support it. Not condemning you as a writer, just letting you know that I will not be your fan. I hate abuse stories where the abuser wins.

2. The victim is rescued by a new lover. Christine Morgan's novel "Black Roses" (available on Amazon) is one of the better stories I have read that has this sort of plot. Christine is an old friend of mine who has been of great influence on me as a writer, she also has stories on Lit under the name "Sabledrake". I would support this type of story, but not as much as I would support...

3. The victim (female in your case, I think, though I have also seen it happen with men) empowers themselves, rises up and ultimately defeats her abuser, possibly with the aid of various allies including possibly a new lover, but she is ultimately the strongest power that defeats her abuser, or at least one of many. Stephen King's horror novel "Rose Madder" is a good example of a story that goes in this direction, the videogame "God of War: Ragnarok" is another good example. I have seen other stories go this way as well, including multiple real-life situations in my family. "Preacher: A Whole New World" is a good male-lead story for this kind of plot.

Dark Romance is a difficult genre to get right and please the reader. I hope, if you do not seek further help from me as an editor, I have at least given you food for thought regarding your tale.

It does indeed have a Rose Madder type ending, though it happens in the real world, not a painting :)

Okay, good, glad to hear we are thinking along similar lines. I would like to aid the inspiration of your story. Please start a Private Conversation with me regarding it. You probably want to avoid spoilers for potential readers, right? :) I'm an author too, I know what is good for us. If you are interested in my services as an editor, please contact me privately. Thank you. Good luck.
