Someone please lend me an Excuse

No, I take that back. I don't want you to lend it to me. I want it to keep. One that I can hold in my back pocket. One that I can pull out and use when things get difficult. One that will allow me immunity from remorse, guilt or shame.

Everyone seems to have one, but I can't seem to find mine. In fact, it seems some people have tons of them. So please share one with me. Pleeeeeeaaase.

I don't know where I went wrong in life. I had plenty of bad shit happen to me growing up and still do. I should have one! It's just not fair!

Anyone of these will do:

I want an excuse so that I can drive to work each day cutting everybody off the road that's in my path.

I want an excuse so I can not care about what other people think. To be able to be cause pain without remorse.

I want the excuse that I'll never love again because I've been burned so bad in the past.

I want an excuse so I can be hateful, petty and jealous.

Please share the wealth. Really, I'll take anything you've got.

The only thing you can state is that this is you and this is how you are going to be. Stand behind convictions. You don't like how it is...change it.

Excuses suck. Why bother with them? They are as useful as a sentiment without any heart behind it. Those are aplenty.
