Ok I am new at lit, i just started at the first of this month. I just have a question or two about submitting a story.

Do I have to have it edited by a volunteer editor before it gets accepted and posted?

How long does it usually take to get a story posted to the story index?

Reason I ask is because I posted my story lastnight and it hasn't been accpeted yet.

Can some one shine a light on me

No, editing by a volunteer editor is not mandatory. However, the program was started because it's almost impossible to catch all of the typos and errors in your own work because you see what youknow you typed. A second set of eyes that has no preconception of what you meant to say can work wonders for your story.

How long does it usually take to get a story posted to the story index?

About 72 hours. The stories update at midnight Pacific time, so even when it shows as "accepted" it might be a full day before it shows on the new story list.
