Somebody at Showtime needs a boot in the nuts

Weird thing is, I can't even imagine the rationale. Anyone?

My guess, and this is only a guess, is that it is a rights issue. Assuming that you are trying to read about the Showtime production "On the Edge," the overseas rights may belong to another company. Also, there was a theatrical movie release in about the same year with the same title, which may contribute to the problem.

Media companies have not figured out the Internet connects everyone and still have some outmoded policies.

Actually I just googled (sorry, "did a Google search") Showtime and it my impression is that no one can access anything at the site outside the USA. The only thing I can suggest is that the schedule and content are different in different countries and that perhaps some of it is restricted in certain countries.

It seems like they should have a better way of dealing with it than this. There is a showtime.au, for example.

This only works for the first page. The moment I clicked a link, it had the "We're sorry" message again.
Copy the link, paste it back into Google, and look at the cache again. Irritating and cumbersome (and I can't test it to see if it works, since my IP originates in the States), but it should work. Same idea with anonymizer too.

In any case, it doesn't seem to be the most astute public relations gimmick, does it?

It's all just so unnecessary. *disgusted sigh*
