You get a massive mix of stories because most people wiritng and posting them are complete amateurs who are posting osmething to get themselves off or written to get a specific someone else off. You can find great writing out there if you look

Ahhhh ok, lol you had highlighted my post. Honestly, I don't care about the construction of posts for the most part, when you figure they are essentially like rough drafts. However, I will say, that if you choose to post complaints about the structure of stories, you may wish to pick the way you word your post wisely.

Well.... it ain't easy writing a story and playing with yourself at the same time.

Many of the errors you are finding, as was noted above, are for the same reason that your post is strewn with errors.... Some folks just don't take the time to have someone properly edit their stories... (I am guilty of that) AND it is extraordinarily difficult to edit your own stories properly, at least for me.

So basically, I write stories here for the same reason most people read them... to inspire an erotic response. And just like you are just trying to have a casual conversation and NOT prepare a grammatically correct post, sometimes the grammar gets lost....

On the other hand... there are also a lot of writers here... who can't write.. but some who write real "good" !

The good thing about this site is that a reader can find whatever he or she is looking to read.

If you want a literary story, a romance, they are here.

If you are an average Joe and just want to read a bit of fantasy while jerking off, there are plenty of those stories, too.

I disagree with the original poster that there are not many good stories. There are more good stories than bad.

Like water, as readers we rise to our level of understanding. I more love this site for what it is than for what it is not.

Yes, there is a prevalence of 1st-2nd person narrative because many people start off by writing their own fantasies. My first stories were in that form 'cause I had a wicked crush on my best friend.

But, don't judge a story by its POV. Some of them are very well written, even if their characters are never named. That type of story, IMO, belongs in the Letters & Transcripts category ... but that would decimate the other categories.

Lit provides a wonderful venue for both readers and writers. Free. Don't like 1st-2nd person stories? Don't read them. Simple as that.

And, if you think you can improve the quality of stories, get busy writing.

Anyway. Yes, there are some crap stories here (tell me a free site like this that don't have those). But if that's all you find, you can't have looked around much. Almost all of the best erotic stories I've read, I've found here. Lit is a popuar site because of a high ratio of better quality writing and (relatively) low ratio of crap.

Yes, there are some really bad writers here, just as there are mediocre ones and good ones and excellent ones. Try reading stories on the top lists.

Something to keep in mind is that even if you think a story sucks, someone put a lot of time and effort into it. So, how about a little respect? As has been suggested, if you think you can do better, do it.

The poor English is easy to explain. Having a professional editor for Literotica stories is optional. To read stories published using proper English, one would have to buy a professionally published book or magazine. The other explanation involves the seemingly ever-decreasing quality of education these days...
