(These were written while playing security guard for the university.)

So quiet,
So lonely,
The lonle soldier,
Standing his post,

On comes the enemy,
Screaming through the night,
The battle-cry mixing,
With the sound of screams,

When will it end?
Who must die to stop it?
Or, perhaps,
Who must live?

Awake from this nightmare,
Return to your dreams,
It is safe here,
For now, at least,

The soldier stands his post,
The sprits with him,
Firefighter, Policewoman, Paramedic,
All die to protect us,
From our nightmares.

The second one, slightly less tear-jerking.

I am weary,
I am alone,
All is silent,
Save my breath,

What of Love? I am poet, hear my angst,
What of Loss? I am romantic, see my empty bed,
What of Death? I am warrior, death fear I not,
What of Life? I am human, such is my burden,

The circle repeats,
Forever, anon,
To break it,
To encourage chaos,

Keep the heart, for those yet to come,
Keep the faith, for those who fall,
Keep your anger, for it sustains us all,
Keep yourself, there are none like you,

"To thineself be true"
As true now, as it ever was.

Any comments, concerns, speeches?
