If i might suggest the floppy setup disk for those without restore CD's

http://www.labmice.net/windowsxp/default.htm

You will need six new floppy disk when you run the programto create the setup program for your computer.

when you winXP will not boot up, use your floppies in order and then exit and restart.

All of your stuff will be saved as the program only reloads the operating system.

It worked for my wife's computer.

Guess what? You can also access your restore console with this setup/boot disk set.

It asked me if i wanted the setup disk program to try and repair my nephew's "C" drive.

I click yes, and it repaired it.

If you have windows XP, you need this little hummer!:)

And then there are those of us who'll take whatever hummers we can get!

Would this little wunderwerk solve Glock800's locked file problem?

WH, I have no ideal.

Due to my ignorance of XP and the nature of what the boot/start up disk set was designed for i cannot say one way or the other.

What i do know is that they replace part of windows xp very much like the boot up floppy that comes with a new windows 98se CD ROM disk for a computer hard drive with out a operating system installed.

I know with the six floppies and restore Cd's one can indeed put win xp on a hard drive.

I know one can fix a computer with xp home that will not boot up enough to get to the restore console with them.

Also one can get to the restore console by using them.

All i know is what i have accomplished using them.

Three down and three up with them...so far.

Xp is not as stable as it is claimed to be. At least two of these computers crashed when no one was using them.
