this might come across as pathetic, but what is the best way to 'join in' here?

It seems everyone knows everyone, and i don't just want to jump in on an ongoing conversation, that would seem.... almost rude.
I'm pretty new to this whole BB thing.

The 'general' board appears to mostly political threads, in particular american politics, which I am not into.

This area seems much more fun, but all the threads are long term people...... ok, now even I think i sound whiny:eek:

Any tips or advice???

Hi, welcome to lit.
Start with the games. Let people get to know you. I know it's hard to jump into conversations, but just come in and say hi. Usually someone will respond to you.
Great white north? Does that mean you're in Canada? Western Canadian myself.

I find that most times a lot of people actuially won't mind you just joining into a conversation already started, as long as you keep it on topic.

Another way to "jump in" is to find a thread like the "Canada Personals" or some other broad thread that allows for a lot of introductions.

Welcome to Lit, and please come by more ofton. Enjoy your stay.

Thats helpful.

BC, born and raised!!
Ok, i'm not that western. I'm in Alberta, but i spend as much time in the mountains of BC as i can.

Welcome to Lit, and let me add that you made a wise move posting this to the Playground instead of the GB. We are ever so much friendlier here than they are on the GB.

Just jump in when you find a thread that interests you. Or start one of your own.

have fun!

I should say that you did just fine with starting your own thread... it won't hurt a bit to come back and post replies here! The people who have stopped by will make a point to acknowledge you in other threads. Myself included ;) Welcome to the fun of the PG. :D

Welcome!

Welcome to the boards! I found that as I got to recognize names on other posts and threads I'd join in discreetly and the next thing I know....my mailbox is full of PMs!!!

It's great fun! Relax and enjoy!

Hi Marathonman, just wanted to add my hello. Sometimes it can seem as if you can't find the right thread to post on. But be assured, on this forum, no one is going to think twice that you are jumping in the middle of an ongoing conversation. In fact, most people will like it if you do that and they will include you in the conversation.

And you didn't sound pathetic or whiny in your first post on this thread. You just sounded inquisitive.

Hope you have fun.

Enjoy yourself!

thanks again everyone for your freiendly responses, looking to forwad making some new friends.

Yeah, those little pictures are fun to look at. When you reach 100 posts, you can add one, too.

Those little pictures are avatars. You can post one of your own once you reach a cumulative total of 100 posts. Keep at it and you'll have one in no time.

Welcome to Lit. It's a fine community of fine people.

Oh, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Like most of us guys here on Lit, I'm not really a suave, smart, and romantic man. I just play on on Lit. ;)

Hey, I just re-read some of my unproof-read responses, and so far I am playing a slightly spelling challenged individual.

spelling doesn't count..... does it?!?

Ms. Vixen, yes, stamina does cum in handy at times:rose:

WELCOME Just jump right in to the playgound and have a good time. It is a pretty friendly crowd around here. :D  :rose:

This forum is kinda like fishing...you'll never get any bites unless you cast that bait into the water. Come in, post a bit, and I bet you will get responses and make friends here. Let people see how you post, get to know you a tad, and guaranteed you will find your comfort zone. Welcome! AA

Welcome to Lit. :)

I'm still a newbie myself, but most people here are friendly.

Hope you enjoy your time here!

Welcome Marathon Man!! there are a lot of cool people who come to the Playground so just jump in somewhere and say hi! The Musical Alphabet and other games like that are good for getting your post count up so you can get an avatar. The Literotica Bar is always a good place to meet others,as well as Sensations...a stip club. Then as Tap-Out said there are always the personals directed at where you live. Welcome again and have fun!

Actually, spelling does count!

A cool little tool to help with that: http://www.iespell.com/
