Solitaire diamonds look better when they aren't lost.

:rose:

I did the same thing years ago. A few months later I even lost my pearl. I must have looked everywhere for them. My original set was worn so thin we didn't buy a new stone.

He bought anniversary bands for our 20th and 25th. One day I saw a cocktail ring I liked and ended up getting it for myself.

At the time I lost them I was devastated. Now the replacements all sit in the jewelry box. They're fully insured.

So sorry, darlin. Feels funny without it on your hand, I know.

Some ring companies will repair for free but you have to have the stone. Now if finances are seriously a problem and look to be for the forseeable future, you might try Stauer. They make jewel grade diamonds in the lab and the cost is about 1% of a natural stone and no one, I repeat, no one except the most expert of jewellers will ever be able to tell the difference. I'm not talking diamond substitutes, these are real 100% carbon diamonds. Check 'em out.

Thanks, dear ones - and good suggestions, too. :rose:

I think we'll call insurance. We've never had any homeowner claims.

All my musical instruments are covered, wherever they go. I just wish I could remember about the rings. Ah, well.

I need to find something to wear on that hand for now. This is just too odd.

This may sound a bit funny, but a friend in a similar situation went to *gasp* Wal-Mart. She purchased an inexpensive but nice little band to wear until she could replace the stone in hers. While it wasn't her own, it made her feel better to wear something on that finger.

Hot Mama has been wearing a gold harem puzzle ring for years since her solitaire got loose. We really need to get it fixed some day but she's gotten so fond of the harem ring . . .

Most insurance companies will cover up to a certain amount on lost stones, jewelry et. al. It's better to have them write a Personal Articles policy to cover everything of value in the home including artwork, collectibles, jewelry, etc. It costs pennies. but it's an excellent hedge agains losses. ;)

Sweetheart, don't forget, it's just (although a very expensive) a piece of carbon. I am relatively wealthy and have never owned one. At my 20th wedding anniversary, I opted for a speedboat instead of a diamond as my spouse suggested. He complained that the boat cost him four times as much as the ring, but anyway I still have the boat and my teenagers are willing to hang out with me - in the boat!

so sorry, please don't be sad,:kiss::kiss:

Gawrsh, any possibility of posting a picture of the . . . boat? :D

I'm sorry you lost something of such sentimental value! Were you at home? Could it be in the house somewhere? If you walk around barefooted, you might find it.

When my husband and I decided to get married, I asked him if he wanted to wear an engagement ring, and he said no, so I said that I wouldn't wear one, either. When I told this to co-workers, they said, "You turned down free jewelry in the name of EQUALITY?!" *shrug* I thought it was more important than jewelry.

The bare prongs just don't make it.

I lost my diamond today.

Not exactly sure when it happened. I didn't even know the prongs were loose.

At any rate, I felt the rough edges all of a sudden and was shocked to see the solitaire just gone.

Here's a picture of what it did look like (these diamonds are a bit bigger than mine but the set is very similar). This is my set, and hubby has band to match. My engagement ring carried the solitaire and is attached to my wedding band.

But we can't replace it right now because of finances. And since the two bands are soldered together, I can't even wear it without gouging out my eye with the bare prongs (not to mention it looks really dumb).

The bare white strip on my ring finger looks interesting, too.

We'll call our insurance company tomorrow, see what they can do. Or what they will do.

Well, hell.

I'm seriously bummed.

:(

Ahhh! This sucks! Hugs...and hoping that it's laying on a rug, or the sheets, or somewhere close by and you'll see it.... so sorry :rose:

This happened to me and it was covered by our homeowner's insurance.

This was covered? Nice!

I am trying to sort through our policy online.

Thing is, it's been quite awhile since the set was purchased. I mean - 18 years or so. I am certain we don't have the original paperwork.

The rings have been worked on about once a year - fix prongs, clean and polish, that sort. I wonder if that is enough of evidence as to what I have lost?

It is possible. The jewelry store may keep some sort of info on it, even if just to identify it when they have it...

My only gripe with Stauer is that they are so busy happily turning out gorgeous stuff for the ladies that they forget such things as men's pinkie rings. You know, like when someone wants a favor? They can kiss it to insure repayment.

All I did, alla my life was try 'n' take care of my family.

I don't know VM ... some of those men's watches are absolutely gorgeous

I know it's not the same as a pinkie ring to be kissed, but I'd love that Graves '33 watch
