trump is planning to deploy more troops to the us/mexico border than we have in Afghanistan, to stop a caravan of women and children refugees. AND threatening to shoot them.

can anyone say "rohingya"?

Don't worry. He's not really going to do it. Its only purpose is to scare up dumb voters for next Tuesday. On Wednesday he'll say it's all the Democrats' idea and the Republicans in Congress will nod their heads in agreement and the Trumpettes on this board will post their lies about it. Business as usual.

Hey, whatever it takes to ensure that Democrats do not regain power. If there is some collateral damage to those that do not agree with our point of view, so be it.

Since we all know it's not just women and children and we all know Trump won't order our soldiers to shoot and they wouldn't shoot regardless, here's a couple of questions: What would you do? Would you just let them come in?

I think the suggestion I saw of sending large numbers of lawyers and judges to process their cases in keeping with existing laws would be better than sending troops (and you're lying about Trump not sanctioning just shooting them. He's directly said that if they throw rocks--or can be said to have done that--he sanctions shooting them. He doesn't exempt women and children. They are all hardened criminals or terrorists from the Middle East, don't you know? They aren't human beings to Trump--or, probably, to you. They are brown bodies dying to vote Democratic in Tuesday's election, even though they are still 1,000 miles away from here.)

This is all a manufactured scare tactic, with the "sending more troops than we have in Afghanistan" being geared just to next Tuesday's election and his dumb as fence posts supporters.

There's a problem with immigration laws, yes, but the Republicans have been in power for years and have done absolutely nothing about them. And the Trump administration is flaunting the immigration laws that do exist. There are processing laws for both illegal aliens and legal immigrant applicants--and those marching in this direction who won't get here for six weeks at least anyway and, if you read the army's own assessment aren't going to get here in strength in any event, aren't illegal aliens until/unless they cross the border without going through the processing laws that exist (and aren't, flaunting the law being provided). Until then, they are potential legal applicants for entry or asylum under existing laws that just aren't being applied.

The number of illegal immigrants has decreased, not increased over the last three years. If the Republican-controlled Congress did nothing about them when the problem was worse, what, other than scare-tactic politics is driving this as a crisis now?

It's not. It's despicable Trump and his deplorables who are manufacturing this "crisis."

Didn't I say the Trumpettes would be descending on this thread with their hate-mongering idiocies?

It's gonna happen. It's real. There will be 10,000 cameras documenting their arrival. I assume you prefer it to be a clusterfuck, because, politics. Fuck what's best for the country as long as it makes Trump look bad. The Germans have a name for it. Look it up.

The problem with this suggestion is that there' aren't enough judges. That means we'd have to use Pro Tem judges.

In order to have a Pro Tem judge hear your case you have to sign a waiver saying it's ok with you. If you don't sign the waiver, the judge can't hear your case and you'll have to have a postponement until a regular judge can hear it.

Guess what the first piece of advice from the immigrant's attorneys mouth will be.

somehow, i just refuse to believe that a bunch of little brown people who just walked 2000 miles equate with the vandals sacking rome or mongol hordes sweeping in from the steppes. do we honestly think that they'll be breaking down the doors like rabid fans at a who concert? if they want to slip into the country, i seriously doubt that they'll try to do it through a port of entry.

Not enough regular judges? A little prune Danish will clear that up.

Rumor amongst the higher-ups in the mil-sci community has it that they have about a dozen makeshift low-tech invisibility cloaks. They look like ordinary hand-woven cultural ponchos to be subsequently appropriated by a lazy fashion upstart, but aesthetics are meant to deceive.

The plan is, while all the #MAGA maggots and deplorables are foaming at the mouth waiting for a stones-vs-bullets brew-up to happen, they'll cross over in small groups through an egress unseen, recharge the cloaks at a secret waystation, then one or two will cross back over with the recharged cloaks while cloaked and repeat the process until all are across.

Because half of America believes them to be uneducated cockroaches, as some here have said, they will use our inherent racism, bigotry and xenophobia against us, as a beard to be shorn off when it's too late. It's an insidious but effective slow-burn scheme, if you think about it.

Or something like that anyway.

We don't really know who or what they are. Do we?

Ellis Island - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellis_Island

Between 1905 and 1914, an average of one million immigrants per year arrived in the United States. Immigration officials reviewed about 5,000 immigrants per day during peak times at Ellis Island. Two-thirds of those individuals emigrated from eastern, southern and central Europe.
