so who's seen London Has Fallen?

ah, oh well, i like to make up my own mind and can suspend reality without too much difficulty :)

there were questionable politics, don't-think-too-hard-how-they-managed-that moments aplenty, and the hardman - well, i kinda wanted to punch him in the mouth to straighten up how he spoke. and you gotta love that it has a 15 rating - only using the word 'fuck' relatively few times, yet the stabbings, bodies being blown up, torn apart, heads ripped from bodies etc.... one of the biggest tells of misreality was that, set in london, so little swearing and not a cunt thrown out anywhere.

yet still i thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon viewing in an almost empty cinema

Rotten Tomatoes. Not a bad place for gauging movie quality.

Most of the sentiment over this is on the "turn your brain off and you'll enjoy it better" vibe.

just so!

and something else: it tok my breath away in places, probably because i'm so familiar with the landmarks affected, home turf kinda thing. it felt so strange seeing them destroyed... not something i can ever say i've experienced before from the movies. oh, and you just know it was filled with 'if it wasn't for guns and the manly kinda men to weild them we'd all be dead'

Oh yeah. There's something about seeing one's home turf, especially internationally renowned cities with landmarks, getting pounded in popcorn action disaster porn. That's why I can never get enough of seeing New York City getting blitzed by aliens, meteorites, supervillains, etc. :D

Think I'll check this out on the big screen for a timekiller on a day off. I'm not expecting Oscar-worthy prose with the dialogue or the script, just make it moderately palatable and the action good! ;)

not heard of that, but really want to see Eddie the Eagle, Hardcore Henry, and maybe 10 Cloverfield Lane

one of the surgeon's I work with loved Eddie the Eagle. He was singing it's praises.

action-filled, super special effects, landmarks/streets look authentic, some surprises... not a long film but it was well worth the time sent in the afternoon. a few lol moments, too - though maybe not for the reasons intended. f'rexample: the black cop chief in scotland yard... an american definitely wrote his script. no one, just no one speaks the way he does. *snortgiggle* and no, defo not oscar-worthy scripting but let me know what you made of it.

Saw it. Liked it. The theater was full.

You had to really, really suspend the disbelief, but if you managed that it was a pretty decent action movie.

As opposed to San Andreas, which completely sucked because it was impossible to suspend disbelief.

You can enjoy San Andreas like Sharknado, though. I did.

I loved this movie! Lots of gratuitous violence and action. Great mindless entertainment.
