There's been a dozen threads about funny, strange and worst Anonymous PCs. Even a thread about Good Anonymous PCs.

But what comments by your fellow AHer's really made you feel like you had really made the mark? What were the comments that encouraged you and made you want to write more?

Mine:

From "Do You Still Love Me?":

Terrific Story

Emotional, affecting, and tightly controlled. A truly masteful job of storytelling. Shows you that halloween stories can be a lot more than just people screwing in costumes.

Beautiful and tragic.

You've created a powerful message about overcoming grief. Heart-felt and obviously personal, this story is well-written and emotionally wrenching. Thank you.

From "After Midnight":

Curiously, Beautifully Erotic
11/14/04 by yui in USA
The protagonist's breathless adoration of the female form was intoxicating to read. You have a real gift for writing in different "voices" and I am very, *very* envious of that talent. Well done! ;)

And from "Saturday's Child" (Dance of Days Ch 6) :

Beware
07/20/05 by Colleen Thomas in USA
Dran, you are getting into Oggs/Colly territory on the length :) Very well done. Very good use of the detective Film noir to carry the story and good integration of the line from the poem too.

:)

Ok. So fess up. What was your favorite PC from an AHer?

Powerful
04/09/05 By: mlady_france
this filled me with such pleasure and such pain. I love how you faded in and out of Katie's dream, and how you showed the lovers playfulness. I think you really did a great job in showing how love has a playful side and how much it hurts when love is stolen from you by means you can not control. I really felt Katie's pain. Wonderful job.

Very moving

It's rare to find an erotic story with such an emotional edge. I loved the realism. Excellent work! Thank you for sharing and I hope you'll write more

A Great Debut
04/11/05 By: BlackShanglan
This is wonderful, powerful work and a superb first piece. I've read this story three times now, draft and final, and every time the bittersweet combination of love and loss moves me and impresses me. Excellent work, Rika.

Whole Heart: Sometimes
11/24/04 By: Colleen Thomas in USA
You read something so well written and so complete in both thought, mood and flow as to make the words blend into a picture in your mind. While not my normal genre, this is a piece that is so complete its appeal is universal to all who love the written word and its ability to move the soul, even if the erotic appeal isn't your usual.

Perhaps once or twice a year I come upon such a piece. Take your bows Carson and collect your laurels. They are richly deserved.

You write a very likable, very sympathetic character in Will. Who hasn't felt the intensity of the pain of unrequited passion? You captured that edgy love/hate perfectly. I like how Will discovered his own power in the end. As always, Carson, you've done an outstanding job. Kudos.

of yours I have read. I will now read more. Very very good. Emotions, thoughts, physical reactions, all beautifully portrayed. A love story with an edge, I enjoyed it very much. M.

Intensely erotic
11/08/04 By: BlackShanglan
Intensity of passion is the ultimate hallmark of truly erotic literature, and this piece has it to a remarkable degree. Emotional depth and physical thrill join together perfectly here - a hot, moving read with a great finish. Carson, as he always does at his best, captures feeling with power, clarity, and beauty.

This actually was scary for a short work, which isn't easy to do. Very good use of build-up to create the necessary tension, with a not-so-typical ending (hmm... sequel perhaps?) One thing that threw me was the over-frequent use of "y'all." I know people talk like that, I hear it every day. Just a bit much in a story even though I understand the authenticity of it. Good work, Cloudy, deserved the win!

This is a great expression of spirituality on many levels - healing, exploration, love, courage, and mysticism. You've done a wonderful job weaving them together into a powerful and moving tale.

Exceptional.
03/12/05 By: LadyJeanne
You've written a compelling story, with strong, beautiful characters, and a solid, warm romance. I very much appreciate the lyrically drawn, mystical traditions. I confess, this made me cry. Lovely, exquisite work. Thank you. LJ

Interesting, entertaining and enthralling tale, Cloudy. I enjoyed the honesty of every character, main or underlying, and felt the meaning behind even the 'seemingly' insignificant details. It takes talent to expose something so foreign in such a way that anyone can understand it. The real magic comes when you've exposed it and are capable of making it something others want to reach out and touch for themselves. Very nice piece.

Excellent story
09/18/04 By: Colleen Thomas in USA
Not my usual fare, but sensitively and deftly rendered. I enjoyed the flashback sequences and the way they were integrated into the story. Also loved that it was a story, complete with characters I could believe and a plotline that seemed unforced.

Excellent job Rg

A solid, moving story
09/12/04 By: KarenAM in USA
This works well. I liked the fact that you showed a vulnerable man, and that you didn't hurry your lovers into bed. It's good to see a story which shows hope for those who have gone through painful divorces, and one which is erotic with middle-aged characters.

I'm stunned!
09/11/04 By: cloudy in Alabama, USA
Your stories just keep getting better and better! I love this story - Frank's journey from devastation to happiness is very compelling. This almost begs to be expanded into a novel, darlin'. I'm a total sucker for a love story this wonderful.

Absolutely incredible, rg.

I love the teasing build-up, the gradual demonstration of his power and dominance over her - and of course her confused and aroused submission. The anticipation for your characters and for your readers is very real. And incredibly arousing.

Well done.

for Private Property: No Trespassing

from Rhinoguy
McKenna, I very much like the simplicity. Two characters who are quickly developed. Each being iconic of their gender. Nice work! You got a LOT in a short story...and THAT's quite a skill!

from Impressive
Very well written!!! I'm not going to nag you to submit this for the anthology. I'm not. Honest. (Pretty please?) Kisses, ~Imp

for For the Honour of Clan Tavish

from Belegon
The comments reveal just how well you have accomplished this task. I'll express again my admiration for the piece, lass. Ye did a lovely job of portraying the inner conflicts in both characters, and this reader joins the chorus that desires your continued efforts on the tale of Aengus & Alannah...

from Awful Arthur
So very imaginative that it doesn't even read like a NonConsent/Reluctance story but more like a Romance. This is a riveting story with hot sex. McKenna has done it again. Give us more, lass, give us more.

for Dance of Days, Ch 4: Thursday's Child

from Colleen Thomas
Few writers I know could, on the spur of the moment, take the place of an author in a chain who had to drop out and produce something decent. How you managed to come up with something of this quality on such short notice and within constraint of the poem line is mind boggling. Beautifuly written, beautifully paced, and filled with incredible images painted in the mind.

piece of work! Your writing is impeccable and you've told an exquisite tale of love, trust, kindness and adventure. It serves as an elegant metaphor on human nature, as well. Brilliant. Thank you. LJ

Damnit, it's good to have someone "get" symbolic meaning in an erotic story, because of course one can't even mention it without sounding uncommonly silly. Thank you, LadyJeanne :)

The feeling is entirely returned. Actually my favorite comments on a story of all time are "Yoda!" and "Stop. Please, God, stop!" ;) Thank heavens, though, they were in drafts and not in PC's.

Am I alone in thinking that the sweetest praise, sometimes, is the willingness to be honest? When Carson shreds a scene for me - a scene that badly needs shredding - there's something special in it. Not just that he's doing me a favor in helping me improve, but that there's a connection there allowing us to do that and still laugh about our dogs and Carson's central role in the entire universe. It's useful, of course, to receive impartial feedback from someone who's not a close friend (and allow me here to plug the SDC as a superb place for that). But there's something very different to a critique that achieves its power through someone knowing you very well, and knowing how to help you.

Dear lord, I'm soppy today. Must be the weather. :rose:

I would completely agree, Shanglan. But I think the purpose of this thread was to share those "warm fuzzies" we get from fellow AHers, as opposed to the critiquing or super-edits we receive from those we value and trust. ;)

For myself, I use the Public Comment option for brief praise or to leave a "warm fuzzy". If I notice a technical error or want to make further, more in-depth comments, I'll usually email the writer. It's a system that works for me, and I'd like to think someone else would feel they could return the favor to me if they felt so inclined.

The essence of humorous writing is that it's a bitch to write, but the good stuff seems effortless. This was hysterical, and flowed so nicely it seems just like a tale being told in the break room at whatever local joint employs the author.

Bravo!

While all responses are important to me, they let me know what people think of what I've written. Some do stand out.

On "Watching" a story I wrote for a person I know.
"Lovely-Yui"
"You combined the earthy and ethereal beautifully. Well done. Thank You!"

On my newest and possibly the most controversial story, "Beach Party"
"Nice- rgraham"
"This story so nicely shows that illness is not the end."

"Outstanding-Anon in US"
"Great story and well written. I can relate because I, also, am a Cancer Survivor. We are the only ones who can understand the feeling of that night. It's indescribable! Keep up the good work. Your story was very realistic."

These tell me I've said what I wanted to say with the story.

I've just had one that made my evening. I don't know which story it was about, but he wrote -

"Congratulations. Your prose style is extraordinarily lucid and fluid,
thus, a pleasure to read. I hope you write much more, and on other
subjects, as well. Thank you."

:)
