Of the World Trade Center plans.

interesting design~might be a bit much but it fits in with the area and looks like a futuristic take on the original.

all the newer buildings look like that in the finansial district.

It's just another target...........Couldn't they find something a bit classier.....look how great the Vietnam Memorial is - so it can be done.

It is beautiful in it's ugliness.

Certainly, it appears to be a monument as well as a building for business.

Very interesting.

:) Thank you for attaching the link!

eeeeeewwww! why don't they just increase our national debt but building a amusement park inside it!

If the buildings are see-through like in the model, won't we be able to see people go to the bathroom?

Ew.

*sigh*
*looks at willow*
*SIGH*
*counts to ten*

The building of the WTC has nothing to do with federal funds. It is being underwritten and financed by the owner of the former WTC and approximately 37 banks and financial institutions.

yeah, it reminds me of Logan's Run also, damn cheesy.

I don't hate it. I don't think it's all that fantastic or interesting, but I definitely prefer it to the other top runner - which was really just a bad and tasteless idea, imho. To describe the other - two tall skeletons of buildings, with the suggested shape of a plane suspended midway into the building. It was weird and creepy, and to me, seemed tasteless....

I think I can find a picture of the other idea that was looking likely - mmmm.. No, dang it - the Washington Post archives don't include pictures. Bastards.

Here is a link to a site about the plans that have been chosen for what's to be built on the site -
http://www.rvapc.com/schemes/wcc/perspectives2.html if anyone is curious to see what they're thinking.

It will never be the same, so why not. It's so sharp and edgy and terrifyingly cold looking, maybe it is appropriate.

Heavy, why are you counting to ten? are you suggesting that i run for my life before you beat me?? just curious

i think it's ugly and it's just another excuse for us to be bombed. hell, will probably got to war so whats the point in putting something only to have it tore down.

why not go for something a little less flashy so it won't be worth bombing??? just curious

I realize this is only a model, but...errr... doesn't it remind anyone else of Superman's 'Fortress of Solitude'?

I like the solarium at the top...a great place to grow pot!

And 1776 feet high....oooh I feel all Revolutionary inside and patriotic, too.

I like the idea of something aligning with the sun at the anniversary of the moment the attacks came. I'm not sure which design incorporated that.

that whole area needs to become a memorial

my Uncle died in tower 2
edited to add:
and I still have a hard time dealing with it

LMAO - very good

I think it should have been the tallest pyramid in the world - with the Eye of God (look at your dollar bill) on top and I am an Atheist when I say that. It's hard to knock a Pyramid down and it would have been one very fine "fuck you."
