J.K. Rowling revealed as writer of adult crime novel 'The Cuckoo's Calling'
The 'Harry Potter' enjoys critical acclaim and creative freedom under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith, who was fashioned as an ex-Army man.

LONDON — An ex-military man tries his hand at writing, publishes a debut detective novel, and wins critical acclaim. But here's the twist in the tale: The true identity of the author is none other than "Harry Potter" creator J.K. Rowling.
It's impressive literary wizardry by Rowling, who said she relished the freedom of writing "The Cuckoo's Calling" under her pseudonym, Robert Galbraith.
"I hoped to keep this secret a little longer because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience," she said in a statement released by her publicist on Sunday. "It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation, and pure pleasure to get feedback from publishers and readers under a different name."

Meh.

I've been meaning to purchase Dan Brown's new one. There's nothing like literary candy before bedtime.

Just a hint. If you don't want people to know you are Robert Galbraith, I wouldn't have your publicist release a statement saying you are Robert Galbraith. On that note, it is a good thing she came out with other writings under a different name because I don't think people would have read her writings objectively. (Say that last sentence fast)

I thought a reporter did some dectective work and discovered her secret?

I just can't like him. I tried but the books take themselves too seriously.
My candy is usually Lee Child or Dean Koontz or something trashy like that. I'll read Rowling though. Casual Vacancy was ok but that's it. Wasn't bad. Curious about this new one.

The publicist's statement was in response to The Times (London) "outing" Rowling. They'd received an anonymous tip that Galbraith was a pseudonym when they asked to interview him. The "tip" may have come from Rowling's team. The Times learned that both authors shared an editor at the same publisher. The jig was up.

Probably not.
I may borrow it from the library, just to see if she can write other stuff, but I wouldn't buy it.

She did write another book for adults as JK Rowling already. It was okayish.

If Jo was writing here I would read a bit of the stuff to see how far back behind the pack she actually is in the real world.
