.....won't shut off. Grrrr.....

Anyone else with fucking insomnia?

I wake early in the morning. After a while I get up, make a cup of tea and come on here to play.

Maybe I wouldn't have insomnia if it wasn't so much fun on here! I get bored lying in bed, thinking: I wonder if Amelia got to have her cake and eat it. What new words are there in Allard's thread? What has Loki got up to in the night?

I TOTALLY did. ;)

JBJ -- you're going to be seeing histamines everywhere now, aren't you. Just like I blame every kind of behavior almost anyone has on varying levels of "sensory issues" or Sensory Processing Disorder. (a story for another time.)

But Naoko, what you said got me thinking of that old saying, "You can't have your cake and eat it, too." It never made sense to me. If you have some cake, why can't you eat it? But then I did some research and learned that the saying was originally, "You can't eat your cake, and have it." It doesn't flow as well but it makes more sense to say it that way. If you've already eaten the cake, you can't still have it.

I say why can't you just go back for seconds???

Those are my ramblings for this morning. Enjoy.

I can't get to sleep before 3 am (of course I don't usually get up until 10:30 am). I usually don't fight it. It's just the rhythm that set in with partial retirement and working for myself. 11 pm to 3 am is my peak production time, though, so it works out.

I've battled it since I was a teenager. Its frustrating, the more tired you get the more wired you get.

last bout I was staying up until 3am and getting up for 6am. All day in work I felt like I could sleep, but the minute I would get home and lie down, forget it.

I get to the point I swear I can hear my own blood hum.

Then that is not insomnia that is your current sleeping pattern based on your lifestyle. If you were an insomniac you wouldn't have a comfortable routine.

There is a difference.

But heaven forbid you don't try to find some opportunity to talk about your production.

Been there, done that. Brain too damn busy and active. Thinking of this, that, and the other. Often current events, but also daily, mundane shit, like bills, work, etc.

Glad to know I'm not alone. I also contemplate the Cosmos, and why I believe increasingly in an ordo natura that supersedes the silly laws and customs of man.

My problem isn't so much insomnia as just not wanting to sleep. I never have. I much prefer to stay up. And now, I don't like my dreams which makes going to bed even harder.

Morning, Sev! I've suffered on and off at different times of my life, and realised that fretting about it doesn't help. I just try to do a few quiet things (like flirt outrageously on a thread in Writers' Exercises, OK, setting that up was not good for my sleeplessness! :D). Sometimes I love to be up early when I know other people are sleeping, to move quietly about the house or even go into the garden when it's summer and see that fresh pale light, so new that it's still misty.

I was getting up at 4 or 5 am recently and so I did start just lying in bed quietly until at least 6, that did help as eventually I started sleeping in until 6. Unfortunately it's now so much fun to be up when the rest of the mob are not demanding my attention that I can't bear to stay in bed past then!
