Okay, those 2 kept me awake just past 11:30 - up at 5:30 ish on their own making breakfast. Went and had a great 1st day of school. Boy crashed for 2 hours after, and I woke him up to manage his responsibilities.

"What did we learn?"

"ugh. I don't think I should have sleepovers during the schoolweek"

See how that works?

Next time he asks? "Remember the time..."

Well, truthfully? There are a few I do care about their opinion of me. The ones I admire & respect.

The folks I am not close with, but like, I respect their opinion.

The ones that are just trolls out to be hateful? Nope, don't care; I couldn't win for losing with them.

Not in a million, zillion years would I have let the kidlet have a friend over on a school night, much less a "boy" friend.


But that is just how I mother. I like to keep things simple.

A) fought it's own War of Independence,
B) was an independent nation before it entered the federal union.

If any state in the union has the right to be weird, it would be the Lone Star State

Ya know, Red, I just read everything I missed, and I gotta say-

I always had a strong dislike for my parents, but I'm suddenly thankful- it coulda been a whole lot worse. At least the emotional abuse was all in-your-face instead of all passive-aggressive, "You're gonna fuck everything that moves" bullshit.

Not to mention the pure, "16-year-olds shouldn't fuck" rhetoric that's been present throughout. Not only do they think your kid's a whore- they think that he has no right to have any kind of sexuality. Someone said it was a generational gap- one generation before mine was 80s kids, and the one before that was free love- I'm not sure it's a generational thing as much as it is

Don't take life so seriously. And it's high school- they're young enough that a little less melatonin isn't going to kill them. Young-uns can run for days with no sleep- I did it all the time in high school. And I took all AP classes. And I worked. It's fine.
