No Al Gore , no AOC but if ya didnt see this coming, you most likely voted for Old demented Joe! NOTHING CAN STOP WHATS COMING! 😊WWG1WGA

The solar farm that was hit is STILL producing energy at a reduced capacity:

https://www.newsweek.com/thousands-solar-panels-texas-destroyed-hailstorm-1883546

From the article:

"We are currently assessing the extent of the impact of the storm on the generation of the project, while the plant continues to safely operate at a reduced capacity," they added.“

And:

“While solar panels can contain toxic substances such as cadmium telluride and copper indium gallium diselenide, in solar cells they are found in solid form in a thin film that usually only becomes an environmental concern when disposing of them.

The CIP spokesperson said that "the silicon-based panels contain no cadmium telluride and we have identified no risk to the local community or the environment."

Experts have said that solar panels have several protective layers to avoid any substances being exposed through damage. County officials told local news outlets that hazardous materials crews had so far found no contamination in the area.”

😑

Also:

ANY energy production operation has the potential for harmful environmental impacts. - Solar is one of the few that also mitigates environmental impacts.

😑

There is also the capability to stow solar panels during storms, but failures of energy companies to purchase or activate the stow feature can contribute to events like this.

Texas Hail Storm Destroys Thousands of Acres of Solar Farms

By Margaret Flavin Mar. 26, 2024 11:20 am

During a hail storm last week, several solar farms in the Needville, Texas were destroyed in an area spanning more than 10,000 acres.
Apart from not being destroyed, Texas last month overtook California as the USA's largest producer of Green energy. So Progressive these Texans!

That almost makes sense as Texas is (a) larger than California- more room for solar farms and b) tends to get more sun. Though I would think the Mojave desert would be a great place for such energy development.

Gee did you say that when a icestorm knocked out the fossil fuel powered electical system in TX a few years ago?

Why wasn't the end of fossil fuel powered electricity then? Oh no one solar farm was damaged so....no more solar panels ever. But low temps on unweatherized systems cause the whole thing to go down leaving people freezing in their homes it's how can we blame this on green energy from you guys on the right? Disengage your lips from the fossil fuel industry's buttocks.

Hopefully it's moisturizer for your sister and some renovations on your trailer. Trump hates white trash like you.

Homes near hospitals in Texas command a price premium because of redundant power grid connections (Hospitals cannot afford to lose power, even though they might be majority Hispanic!).

Texans have become used to power grid failures in both the summer (resulting in numerous heat stroke deaths) and the winter (hypothermia).

I've lived here in Texas for 14 years now, I've been through two hurricanes, one major Texas flood and two lengthy (4+ days) grid freeze failures. It's a shitty power grid, run by shitty companies who have legal DISINCENTIVES to NOT upgrade the grids, but instead repair 2000-era technology. (New investment must be amortized, lowering investor returns by .02 percent!)

Fuck Greg Abbott, Hotwheels Hitler, his carpetbagging Rush Limbaugh wannabee Lt. Gov Dan Patrick and corrupt Attorney General Ken Paxton.

But Gov. Abbott and I'm sure Rightguide said it was because the green new deal.

During a hail storm last week, several solar farms in the Needville, Texas were destroyed in an area spanning more than 10,000 acres.

Nearby residents have expressed concerns about the envirnmental impact of the solar farms.

Has anyone seen Al Gore? How about AOC?

They are the nation leader much to our chagrin here in California. As has been pointed out already it wasn't destroyed, it was damaged. You really should give up this train of thought cus it just makes you look stupid as shit

It doesn't matter. As long as he gets to laugh at American energy infrastructure in a red state being damaged because he thinks (aka, was told) it's "woke" or "progressive" or whatever, then it's all good for him in the brother red state of Idaho.

It's what's happening with the Baltimore bridge disaster, too. No compassion, no fraternity, every calamity is a moment of clout for talking shit for $$$ online. Welcome to the future of America, courtesy of the RW. 🤷‍♂️

Honestly on that front I think we're getting well past the point where pretending Conservatives are actual people is dangerous. This is twice in six months they have actively cheered for a terrorist attack because it would make Biden look bad. As much as many of us loath Trump I don't recall anybody wishing he'd preside over a terrorist attack.

10,000 acres of solar panels destroyed by beloved Mother Nature. Too bad for those who are depending on that technology for their energy.
1.And who would that be?
2. Who has confirmed that the solar panels aren't salvageable?
3. Wouldn't insurance cover replacement?

That almost sounds like a story a real journalism outlet could cover.

But GP obviously has it covered 👍
Turns out that 590,000 solar panels were destroyed. There will be huge problems regarding recycling the panels;

"David Blackmon, an energy analyst who publishes “Energy Absurdities,” told Just The News that the destroyed panels may end up in a landfill, because it takes time to create an economically viable recycling stream."

Nothing in your article confirms this.

There may be issues recycling them., as the expert speculates in your article.

But hey, at least JTN reported with actual sources and provided some information. I guess it's not as total shit as GP is.
