I go away for a month or so and y'all completely change the BDSM forum. This is the "fun" side? (I'm lazy and don't feel like digging through heaps of threads to find my answer.)

well now, TJ, that depends on who you talk to.

fun. fluff. unecessary. whatever.

To each their own, and thank goodness for that.

Welcome back and enjoy the new forum.

way to go!

Hey Anelize... I wanted to say two things to this post. First I should preface this with the fact that I think your contributions to the board are worth a lot of respect. Second, I'm dismayed at your continued negative posts in regard to the new section. You certainly have a right to your feelings and even some good points but your negative posts continue to disrupt the very community you try to protect. Please consider ... words can divide and your continued negative posts will further that - which is something you have stated is NOT your goal.

Be well.

I'm with Anelize and do not feel that in an environment where free speech is supposedly supported and encouraged that I should go along with the crowd in the interests of making others feel 'warm and fuzzy'. I am into honesty and transparency of actions which is the issue here. The comments are perceived as negative by those who wish to see them that way. Others would see them as positive in that we do not feel we have to fall in with the crowd to gain popularity or acceptance, avoid confrontation, or the million other reasons, and as protective of a community which until recently appeared to me and many as very cohesive, happy, and supportive.

It should never be a sin to stand up and voice your opinion, and from offline messages I have had, the numbers objecting secretly to the recent events here are larger than those supporting, just most do not feel comfortable in revealing their thoughts out of fear they will be sanctioned to 'shut up' as in this quoted post. Sometimes in life you have to make a decision and remain strong enough to withstand the unpleasantness of those who prefer otherwise.

Advocates against oppression and discrimination are a good example....without their voice nothing would change, but initially they are usually told to just let things ride and sort themselves out, or abused for their efforts...but that all changes when results begin to emerge in a positive way...then they are flooded with people wanting to help, support from the very ones who previously would not stand beside them.

If you are gonna try to stir the pot, please at least throw some new ingredients into the mix. This whole debate is just re-heated puke by now.

But only 35% are upset in the secret poll. And if half are so upset they left, that reduces to 17.5. :p

Sorry I wasn't referring to the so-called secret poll, nor at this point am I interested in further discussion as I have said what I have to say as have others but find the responses, and once again I do not refer to online, up front responses, are less than open and transparent, not to mention egalitarian. Sometimes the obvious is difficult for some to see.

Here's an image and explanation for you, also a true story (similar to the movie, "You've got mail" with Hanks and Ryan). Ever read about the entry of Starbucks into certain areas. There's an old cafe where 'regulars,' some of them, authors, sip one coffee all evening; some yak and some are writing an opus. Well, the lease on the place expires, and the owners, conferring with Starbucks, decide a Starbucks outlet there would be new, interesting and profitable. And so it's proposed.

Well, there's enough resistence that the 'regulars' make the _replacement_ very embarrassing, so what happens is the Starbuck goes in next door to the old cafe, which is then esssentially living on borrowed time, in view of the commercial success of the Starbucks, and its setting up an 'author's corner' with visiting authors at scheduled times; patrons can rub shoulders with them and buy their books.

Time marches on, as they say. Urban development, and all that. The majority, which includes all the new Starbuck patrons, are entirely pleased with the situation and Starbuck's 'bottom line' is healthily black, and the mumblers at the old cafe gradually evaporate, possibly re-grouping else where.

No. But HOW you do it should always be considered. And that's all I've said. It's not about warm and fuzzy but it is about articulating your thoughts instead of a distained smirk over and over. Which of course she *does* have the *right* to do... my point is that it's a divisive tactic and IS inconsistant coming from someone who claims to want the community to be whole. Maybe that's the point... but MY opinion is that it doesn't work very well.

Okay now I DO take exception to this. "sanctioned to shut-up"? Give me a break. I did nothing of the sort! In fact I went as far as to aplaud her opinion - my comment was on the delivery and I'm intitled to that opinion without this type of melodromatic statement. How in the world can you compare this to stifling free speech? I admit I'm insensed. Please reread my original post!

Didn't know I was going to stir this up. I just wanted to know if this was the place to post goofy shit. Sheesh.

I like this forum because it's easier for a newbie like me to jump in. Just curious...why do you people who are against it post here? Usually if I don't agree with something, I steer clear of it.

Please understand, I ask this question with the deepest respect for your opinion...again, just curious.

TJ,

I'm sorry all this overran your thread, at my instigation. Bottom line is, I don't deal with change well, and I have let this particular one irritate me for far too long. Life goes on.

Hi JG

//I like this forum because it's easier for a newbie like me to jump in. //

What about this forum makes is easier [than the other] to jump in?

Do you find the moderator here more welcoming than at the other place?

Just curious. :)

Lighter, more frivolous, fewer signs of cliques...same moderator, same welcome.

Thought twice about adressing the question as I really feel this issue has been going on too long, but on further thought decided it deserved answering given it was not meant to be judgemental but more trying to understand.

For myself, I post here because I do not agree with the division of boards and was happy the way things were with a balance of serious and fun and a cohesive community. By avoiding posting here I am saying I feel there should be a division, or worse still, I allow someone else to tell me I have to decide whether I want to approach my choice of lifestyle in a purely serious manner, or a totally frivilous way. As this was not my choice ever, and I like balance, I post.

It in no way reflects agreement, more so it reflects a desire to not be forced to react in a way I do not believe is egalitarian, tolerant, friendly, or community aware or more importantly, the way I have lived my life to date.

and I am more then dismayed at those that DO NOT GET IT
this cafe or whatever it is is
1) the result of a couple of bullies
2) the result of Miss T publically approving of people being bullies

Your posted sounded like you saying that those that did not agree with you should shut up...so maybe you should reread your own post

I posted a poll about this forum, but it wasn't a secret.

It was there for all to see and vote
and sharw why they voted as they did
it got a lot of traffic.... but made no difference
because
1) Miss T would never admit to her part in what happened
2) Many poeple were cluless and still are as to what was happening and only wanted to argue with those of us that did
3) though this site is promoted as free speech ... it is only when it is convent with the owner

Isn't it fairly easy to create your own bulletin board and invite a following? Rather than stay here and be on the outside pissing in, why don't you create your own little space and handle bullies as you see fit?

and why should I let lancaster and company chase me away?
Why should I hide behind a fake online name
or fake everything else ....as many do?

I love how you and others now want to censor those of us that have stood up well you hide and still you call this a place of free speech
