So I've moved house...

Jenny, we didn't forget them, just left them as the sofa was old and so was the matress *L* The sofas arrive on saturday and we should get a new mattress early next week too -woo hoo!

In the meantime, you should go to your local sporting goods/camping outfitter and get one of these (or something similar.)

That's a Coleman(tm) "double-high" w/ 120VAC air pump that runs about US$50. but there are other maufacturers and other sizes without built-in air pumps that are cheaper -- as little as US$20. You can inflate them with a vacuum that allows you to connect the hose to the exhaust as a blower or a cheap battery powered or manual pump -- (or just by hyperventalating for an hour or so.)

When your real mattress comes, you can deflate it and store it in closet to use for company or camping.

I'm a step ahead of harold :D We have a blow up bed and it's comfortable enough, but oh, I'm looking forward to having a proper matress *L*

That's good. It sounded like you were sleeping on the bare bedframe, though.

The nice thing about the new generation camping versions of inflateable matresses is that they're sized to take standard bed-linens and the better ones are hard to tell from that "proper mattress" you are longing for. :p (and they're generally cheaper than what are marketed as "Blow-up Beds.")

I sleep on a blowup doll.
She doesn't talk back.

Lol

I have one of these packed in my storm bag. (This is a rather large bag on wheels that is packed with the things my wife and I will need during Hurricanes. We have to be in the hospital before and during the storm. In this bag we have the matress, linens, two changes of clothes as well as enough food for the two of us for three days. {Translated enough food for four people with ormal metabolisms for three days.})

When we arrive at the hospital we find the room assigned to us and move the bed out so someone else can use it. We set up our air matress, inflate it and put the sheets on it. Alongside it we place our bags and I plug my Laptop into the generator outlet. (That way it stays charged.)

The only time we had a problem with this set up was suring Hurricane Jean when one of the Admissions Staff saw the Mattress and decided it would be much more comfortable for her and her husband. She also decided that because it was owned by a couple of mere C.N.A.'s she could take it over. They were not pleased by my response when my wife and I came off duty and found them in our bed. (I slept well and they slept on the floor. )

These things are well worth their price.

Harold -well the blow up bed is something we've had for a while, for when my darling sister comes to sleep over -so no real cost involved with it, which considering we're as skint as skint can be til we get some pennies on Monday is a very good thing *L*.

Cat -I'm hoping i never have to pack mine up for use in a hurricane, I must say!
