i wrote a story, it's my second one ever. the only other story i've ever written was 5 years ago. is this where i would go to see if anyone would read it for me, just to give me some basic feedback before i submit it? sorry if i'm in the wrong place, i'm a gb'er :)

This forum is often used for getting more feedback after the story's been posted and asking questions from readers along the way, but I'm sure you could find what you're seeking here.

What I would do, however, is post in the Editor's Forum asking for a proofread and basic feedback because we all miss our own mistakes (hell, even my rather large group of super-sharp, editing beta readers missed a couple of errors with several passes!), you don't want anything to detract from the story/reader enjoyment, and you might as well kill two birds with one stone, right?

Also, I've noticed many of those who frequent the EF are very experienced with giving constructive feedback. Experience doesn't always equal quality, but you definitely want the best you can get if you're only seeking one person's opinions.

If you don't post in the EF, you might look through some of the threads in here to see who has given really good feedback (janiexx [I think that's right, but don't hold me to it!] comes to my mind as a recent poster, but there are many others), and approach them via PM.

Good luck with the story! :)

thanks, sweeterika, i appreciate the guidance :)

I have room on my plate. I'm a decent editor (have 70+ posts accepted and I edit my own work) but I also offer ideas to others.

Up to you. I'm here.
