Or "Sister" ... but it wouldn't make Lit

Eh . . . change a few things.

Whatever you do, stay away from 'Purple Rain.' It's been done. :p

Second only to Raiders of the Lost Ark for movies I've seen most often (in a paid venue).

And I will admit I've seen 'Under The Cherry Moon' more than once.

Damn, Mia Sara was hot . . . .

I've written parts of the story from the Lady CabDriver's point of view -- and I reference "Darling Nikki" during it... :)

Prince is inspirational, that's for sure. :cathappy:
Imp-- do you like the other movies? I love the soundtracks-- Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge" both.

Haven't SEEN the other movies (which is not unusual for me). However, I do like Graffiti Bridge soundtrack. :)

The line I am unutterably jealous of, that I wish I'd written;

"There's joy in repetition."

2 words falling between the drops and the moans of his condition
Holding someone is truly believing that there's joy in repetition

What she said, she said..
"Love me..."
"Love me..."
"Love me..."

"This is for not being born like my brother, handsome and tall/
And this one's for you, yeah, that's who that one's for"

I'd personally pick Little Red Corvette (with Darling Nikki as a decent backup). I like the vibe of the singer's POV. There are too many stories on Lit (and other places) that either have the guy as some confident stud, or will treat a confident woman as a slut. I'd take the time to read a well done story (giving me at least a few pages to get to know the characters) with that storyline.

Where the guy is a little intimidated to find out just how aggressive and rapacious she is, but figures out that it works out in his favor. That would be a good story. I can see the troll's PF's now!

Hmmmm....I could either go write a story or spank all of you for the fierce need to go put prince on, crank it up and listen for story ideas ;) :p

Embrace your inner pimp and do "Bob George."

As a Prince fan from day one, you can't really go wrong with any of his songs, including the bootleg/unreleased stuff. But how are you approaching it? As a full story inspired from the title? A dramatic interpretation of the lyrics? Or something new created from the muse of listening to the song as you write it? So many ways...

The song going thru my mind right now is "Strollin'"

Now I have to dig that cd out! :rose:

A slight digression;

There was a point when "Mad Magazine" stopped being funny, because all of it's humor was based on outrageousness-- but life itself had become outrageous. I remember the issue when they tried to parody "Animal House." :rolleyes:

I a similar way, I don't see how you can sex up Prince's songs any more than they already are!

I have used his songs in the context of stories-- where a character might sing one, or think life is imitating art, or some such. In my "Sarabande" never-finished novel, the rockstar main character is always getting compared to Prince (and for good reason), and Prince shows up onstage unannounced at one point... Tracy says; 'He threw in a lick from "Do Me, baby,' and I thought the fans were going to kill us all."
